Just wanted you to know what a completely fantastic experience I had with one of your employees named Michele (dark hair). I accidently ruined one of my best friend’s favorite t-shirt (whose name is Peter) which was a red Peter’s True Value Est 1950 tee shirt. Though it may be just an ordinary t-shirt to many, it was very important to him. I visited the True Value store in Livonia, Brighton, and South Lyon with no luck to purchase nor any concern of assistance for my need. I then drove from Westland to your facility (20+ miles) where I met Michele in the parking lot who promptly greeted me and asked if she could be of assistance. I explained what I needed, and she told me not to worry and that your facility did indeed sell the shirts. Unfortunately, the size I needed wasn’t on the floor but she stated she would be happy to check in the back to which she did. Not only was I able to find a replacement shirt, but also had my faith renewed in humanity based on how kind, professional, caring, and attentive she was to my needs. I am sorry to report that this event occurred on 7/4/24 and I am now just getting around to writing this as I misplaced her name. I really hope Michele is still working there and that you know how much I appreciated her! She is truly an asset to this store, and I appreciated all that she did for me. Please make sure management is aware of what a fantastic employee you...
Read moreAlways got decent service and purchases here until know. First big purchase from them I ordered a Briggs and Stratton engine for my snow thrower. Could have ordered it online for $60 cheaper including shipping but, I preferred to give the business to a local company. Received the motor, mounted it and found the oil drain tube was cracked almost broken off. Took the snow thrower in to them and they said it must have happened during shipping so Briggs and Stratton would not cover it it would be a shipping claim. I asked if they would cover it and get the remaining tube out from the casing. I started getting the run around. The service department said they would take care of fixing it. I asked for free since it was that way when i recived it. No answer, more excuses Finally a manager came by and told the service guy to take care of it. Arriving to pick it up the service dept said it was easy to get the tube out with the correct tool. But they charged me $18, guess the online was the better choice, as it was insured. Can't give a good rating to a store that can't stand behind what they sell expecially when it's an easy fix and thhey have service people on staff. Won't buy anything like this or probably anything from them again. Sorry Truevalue, I prefer to give my business to companies that stand behind what they do and provide...
Read moreI have been trying to buy anything they would have that I needed because I love to support small businesses. For the two years I've been going there, I have had to walk out of the store empty handed many times as the staff was so eager to ignore me. When I was able to talk to someone, they seemed so helpful and knowledgeable. However, that was rare. I did buy a Stihl weed whip from them a year ago and it never seemed to run right. I took it in for warranty work and low and behold, they were kind enough to replace a spark plug and charge me 23 bucks for that "service". The old plug wasn't bad, and when I got home, I started it up and it still had the same problem. I tried to address the situation with management, but they pretty much told me I wasn't doing my due diligence on maintsing the equipment and that I should bring it back up there to have them look at it again. I've filed a claim with my credit card company, since I never authorized the work to be completed and also with Stihl. I'm sure nothing will change, they will continue to have employees that do not respect customers and continue to try to RIP people off with their "dis-service" department. I guess there's a reason Rural King is doing so well. I'll be taking my business there. It's places like tru value that help fuel the need for these big box...
