I go to this store very frequently as well as many other thrift stores in the area. Unfortunately this store is outrageously priced compared to any other Salvation Army or thrift store in metro Detroit. A few examples: DVD box sets at every other thrift store: $2.99 DVD box sets at highland SA: $7.99+ Golf clubs at every other thrift store: $2.99 Golf clubs at highland SA: $8.99+ (usually $10.99+) Any electronic whatsoever will be lucky to find below $19.99, and they do not test them. I frequently tell the employees that an electronic does not work. There are also no returns here. Used board games: $12.99 Small bag of used toys: $19.99 Baskets: $14.99+ Shoes: $24.99+ I could go on and on about the terrible prices. See the photo attached here. They priced a used, incomplete, untested bose system for $800 (!!!!). That was my breaking point for this review. It has become the laughing stock between all the people that come here. There is a group chat specifically made for sharing pictures of terrible prices at the Highland Salvation Army. The problem resides in their lone pricer, Rebecca. Typically I wouldn't mention names in reviews, but this needs to be addressed by the Salvation Army and this stores manager, Wendy. Other pricers are not given much (if any) freedom to price any items. They are ordered (if you listen closely you can here it very clearly near the back of the store, it's loud) what price to put on items. The prices you will see at this store are absolutely mind boggling. The worst part about all of this is the attitude that Rebecca shows towards anyone that disagrees with her price. She can get aggressive quickly and make for an extremely uncomfortable experience at the store. I have spoken with pretty much every employee at this store including previous employees. There was another pricer who recently left the store and noted to me privately that she could not handle working with Rebecca any longer. Another previous manager, who has moved to a new store that I go to frequently, and I often discuss and show pictures of the absurd prices at Highland SA. I have spoken with the store leads at Highland SA, the employees who stock shelves, the other pricers and all the cashiers. Everyone has the same sentiment: prices are WAY too high, but they have no control over Rebecca. I have no clue why this clown show has been allowed to continue for so long, so I hope this honest review can shed some light on the situation. I would imagine Wendy or potentially the regional manager would have step in, but they have not. Salvation army has deterred so many customers lately due to their online marketplace, and now at Highland SA any items left are even worse than online eBay prices.

This location is the worst to go to in the area. They are extremely high priced compared to the Brighton, White Lake and South Lyon locations, yet they have worse brands and no fitting rooms. Every time I go to this location I am reminded why I do not. I would be embarrassed if I was an employee putting these price tags on the floor. And the employees are super rude. I go out of my way to donate my items anywhere else but this location. Save your money and sanity and go to the others.

Rude manager, nobody wears name tags. Nicole wallace seems ok, but the rest of the workers should be let go. DVDs say .99 but when you get to the register they will up the price if they aren't already marked. Expect to pay .99 PER DISC. They've got an excuse for everything. Base price doesn't mean anything, they're going to squeeze whatever they can out of the customer.

Very disappointed.

I went to this location back in June 3rd. It is out of the way compared to other locations that are near me but I wanted to check out a new location. They have a great selection and I found some great stuff but there are NO FITTING ROOMS!!!! While looking for fitting rooms, a gentleman working there stated there were none and I can return what does not fit. I verified this with the young lady, Emily M, that cashed me out. She told me no returns but I can exchange since they don’t have fitting rooms. I went back today, June 13th (10 days later) and was informed by the same young lady that exchanges have to be done within 3 Days!!! She said it was policy to inform people of the 3 day exchange but SHE NEVER TOLD ME THAT!!! All she said was ‘sorry’. I have my receipt and all items still have tags on them. Had I been informed of the 3 Day exchange policy I would have been back the same day since I was off. I will not be returning to this location and now have a bag of items I cannot wear or exchange.

Do better Salvation Army in Highland, MI. Bring back the...

I am very disappointed in this salvation army. This used to be a great place to shop, but the prices have gotten absolutely out of control recently. Everything is noticeably double the price of other Salvation Armies like Clarkston, Brighton, Orchard Lake and White Lake.

Not only are the prices crazy, they have "special favorite customers"

I saw one of the women from the back (I think her name was Becca, but I couldn't here what the customer said) come out and say "I am supposed to send this to ecomm, but I will give it to you if you want it otherwise I have to send it in"

That's so ridiculous! Not only are the prices crazy, they have favorite customers that get to pick and choose items so the rest of us don't have anything left to pick from, and those special customers get things hand delivered to them. I would advise not coming here. Go to a different store where prices are reasonable and you're not gonna get left behind by...
