Iv contacted this company they know of the "xrb" fake package scam. They don't know who it is. But are angered and very aware of this situation. After a long thorough talk with the staff over the phone and further research. They seem to be a pawn shop or surplus store that has a physical address you can visit. So after my factual findings this company knows of this "fake package scam" and has nothing to do with it. The address provided is an empty lot as the pictures show on Google and their number is not associated with this scam. I'm giving this company a 5 star rating for taking the time to address the situation and confirm they are in no way associated. Again this is just research and my finding I claim nothing here as completely factual until other wise proven. I thank this gizmo company in taking the time to acknowledge the package scam going around and was nice enough to confirm by word of mouth they are no way involved. I am just a freelance reviewer prov8ding word of mouth and experience for proof of good business conducting. My main goal is to find bad businesses and make them know. And if I find good trusting company's along my way I make sure they get credit where due. And after my week long search for information. Gizmo surplus taking the time to clarify their bussiness and situation of understanding leads me to believe gizmo surplus is as described on their web site and as previously stated is not associated with the XRG Hillsboro...
Read moreI'm so happy to have found this place! Way more stuff than what's on their website so if you're even considering going, just go! My expectations were exceeded in every category: Prices? No idea who has lower prices, especially locally. Selection? It'll probably take 3 more trips to see it all. Customer Service? A very kind and genuine staff who seem happy to have you there. It was my first time there and I didn't see their bag & pen system (think bulk foods). So I go up to the counter right at closing with a pile of capacitors of varying size and price. The gentleman who helped me (owner?) would've had every reason to be annoyed. But he was very kind and genuine to a rookie like me. Not even a hint of that elitist attitude we see so often in tech. They were accommodating, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and just seemed happy to be doing something they love.
I strongly encourage anyone interested to go and support this store. It's a shame there aren't more places like this one. I never write reviews, but I was so impressed that it's the first thing I did when I got home. Keep up the great work...
Read moreThis store has everything a professional electromechanical engineer, hobbyist, and anyone in between would want. Tons of components like Reisterstown capacitors and all the other components you would need to build countless types of circuits. They also have pneumatic fittings, cnc and motor controllers, tons of motors like brushless DC, servos, unipolar and bipolar steppers of various sizes and power ratings, linear rail, linear bearings, vacuum fittings and assemblies, too much stuff to list. Theres only 2 things I can see as being negative in my personal opinion: 1, their website inventory isn't updated, but if you ever go to the store it is totally understandable how difficult it would be to do so. And 2: burning a hole in my wallet, not because they charge too much, in fact they have tons of brand new things, like new/used,, that are already like 1/4 the price of a brand new one from some chain store. It burns a hole in my wallet because no matter what is on my list of things to get, j always end of leaving the store with tons of things I didn't even know I needed until I...
