I am pleased with my lovely new apartment! The only sound I've heard from any neighbor, on my floor or below, is exterior door slamming (and it does shake the whole building)!Conveniently located between I40 and I85, interstate noise is audible, but it has quickly become background noise. Robyn, Ashley, and Eddie in the main office are all terrific and quickly answer any questions or concerns.Jay is very quick to take care of any maintenance issues (almost non-existent issues in this newly constructed building!).Residents are friendly, parking is good and well lit at night, and the area is nice for walking, with many sidewalks. No smoking except in designated outdoor areas is a main reason I chose this place. I am glad the small balcony is big enough for my outdoor rocking chairs! I looked far and wide last summer when I was planning a move to Hillsborough, and with Cates Creek, I made the right decision!! Update after many months:Staff has changed some, but are still a great group and they work hard. The addition of a small, yappy little mutt who loudly and shrilly guards, through a screen door thankfully, his end of the complex, resident trash cans permanently out in hallways, many, many very loud motorcycles, doing away with on-site 5 recycling bins, and minimal, messy trash bin area (residents abuse recycling and trash dumping) have all, alas, made this into normal apartment living. Some resident dogs appear large enough to ride, and may be of restricted breeds, but most seem well behaved and there is a dog park.Cigarette butts, smoke from people smoking on balcony or in hallways, and dog piles are evident, but grounds are kept generally quite clean, though there is no snow or ice treatment. Parking is limited around some buildings.Rent increases significantly, imo, with lease renewal.Still feels quite safe compared to some other Hillsborough complexes. Electric, water, and sewer bills are good, compared to the older Hillsborough complex I lived in...
Read moreWe have LOVED living at Ardmore Cates Creek for the past 7 months! The staff has been wonderfully attentive and helpful since day one. Jay is so incredibly helpful with our service requests. We had a water leak from our washing machine after hours one night, and he was at our doorstep within 15 minutes to help us fix the problem. We absolutely love the pool and grilling area! It is what first attracted us to this complex! The pool is always sparkling clean and the grill space is the perfect place to enjoy a summer night. It truly feels like a resort. The diversity in neighbors is phenomenal. There are tons of young professionals, like us, which is nice to make friends throughout the complex. Also, lots of families with kids as well as retired families. Everyone is generally incredibly respectful of neighbors and community living in terms of noise, mess, etc. The trash collection is AWESOME! We leave our trash out at night and its picked up by the next morning! The accessibility to 40 and 85 is so great, and you would never know that you were so close to 2 major highways (no highway noise!). I drive into Durham on 85 and my boyfriend drives to Greensboro on 40, and we both have never had an issue with the commute!
Our only complaint comes with dog waste pick up. Ardmore does so much to prevent messes being left, by installing dog waste baskets and FREE waste bags all over the complex. This is SO appreciated! However, we find that many people still leave large piles of dog poop on the grass, and when you're walking through your "lawn" in front of the unit and have to dodge these piles, it can get frustrating. But again, I have seen Jay picking up the piles that have been rudely left on the ground, and am so appreciative of everything Ardmore does to keep this place beautiful and homey.
But seriously, HIGHLY recommend...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I have lived in this apartment building since moving to this area, from out of state, back in 2018. We enjoyed living here for the first year and then with management changes and price increases, rude neighbors and paper-thin walls we have enjoyed our time less and less. With the last round of rent leases, we were only able to sign either a month to month plan or a 14-month lease plan. We signed the 14-month plan and during those 14 months we encountered extremely rude front office staff. When we called about problems, we were told that we needed to contact third party services and fix the problem ourselves. We were also told, that we paid $1,300 for our apartment unit and that was it. That the amenities, which have been closed for most of the last year we lived here, were simply a luxury and the front office did not need to address issues with the laundry facility and other amenities the complex offered. After many rude interactions with the front office staff, bad internet service (which they tell you is free but then state as a reason for rent increase – in addition to the valet trash service which they also say is free but then give as a reason for rent increases), neighbors who are rude and loud and an office staff that does not care about the quality of life for the residents living here. While the location is great, with a nice park right across the street and nestled in a subdivision minutes from downtown Hillsborough – the hassle of disrespectful office staff, thin walls, and continuous rent increases without updating the apartment itself it becomes hard to justify $1,300 for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment – when so many other places have nicer amenities, better locations for the same price. It is disappointing to have to leave our first home in North Carolina with such a bad taste...
