After a wonderful relaxing weekend at Ashuelot Pond we decided to fortify ourselves for the long ride back to Massachusetts with a stop at Kats Country Corner Store. It was pure chance we saw Kats and I thought it a bit of a gamble but it really paid off. We sat at the counter and ordered two cheese burgers. One was their famed half pound burger. The burgers were cooked to perfection. The service was friendly, the store was clean and the prices were very reasonable. For some strange reason previous reviews seemed more concerned with politics than service and food quality. While at Kats, I can tell you definitively no one engaged me about politics nor did I hear politics discussed. I'm sure these same reviewers would give Kats more stars if they felt Kats reflected their political beliefs. Seriously, unless you are looking for an overpriced snack from a pitiful selection, well below average counter food, or unfriendly regulars to tell you how great conservatives are & how stupid everyone else is, avoid this place. Aside from a lackluster selection of goods that’re sold at city prices, their signage/advertising seems to rely on narrow minded insults.
