Happened to pass by this place on our way to the petting zoo up the road and the smoker caught my eye. We stopped in for lunch on the way back home, and very glad we did. Wanted to try a few different things, and for under $30 2 adults and a toddler left full and happy. Got brisket and pork sandwiches to split. Both sandwiches were good size, and I appreciate they come sauce on the side because the meat stood up well on its own. Both had a good mild smoke profile, not overpowering or acrid but definitely enough to notice. Pork was coarse chopped not pulled, and it was great on the sandwich. Sauce was made there, beer based and great flavor, thinner than a thick Kansas City style sauce but not as thin as a Carolina vinegar style. I prefer a spicier sauce, but this was good. Brunswick stew was also great. I try it at every bbq place I go to that has it, and to me this is one of the best I’ve had. The chunks of smoked pork were a great addition to the stew, and a nice change from the pulled meat that’s usually in it. I don’t like a real tomatoey base, and this was a just right mix of broth and tomato. Fried pickles were also good, the breading was seasoned well and held onto the spears which were a nice garlicky dill. My wife wanted to try the cheese grits. They were already put away from breakfast but the owner said she’d warm some up if she wanted them, and I’m glad she did. I only got to sample a couple of bites, but they were some of the best cheese grits we’ve had, nice creamy texture. The toddler can’t talk much, but the way he ate the hand breaded chicken tenders I’d say he liked them. There’s no seating inside, but picnic tables are available outside. As summer wears on it might be nice to have some more shade for the tables, but that might be my only “complaint” after the first visit. It’s a little bit of a drive for us, but we will...
Read moreMe and my family were scrolling on Facebook and saw this little place, upon arriving we were greeted promptly and ordered 3 meals and discussed prices for kids meals, never once did she mention that on Fridays kids meals are free . So after going back on Facebook we saw that Fridays are free kids meal . She said since you got 3 meals you can get 3 kids meals so we did upon getting food in car we noticed there were only two, I went back inside and said hey, we only had two we were suppose to get 3. The lady abruptly yelled that basically I was lying about that lol. Long story short customer service is a huge thing for these small business especially since she told me the owner fired her girlfriend because they were so slow. I wouldn’t be basically calling people liars. That’s not going to drive you customers in. As far as the food goes absolutely tastless no seasoning on anything literally threw out all of it and overcooked chicken, very chewy. . I always try to support small business but this was an awful experience . They won’t be there much longer with that girl running that place 🤮 will...
Read moreOn the way back to Atlanta, was searching for some lunch but didn’t want any fast food. I found this on google maps and saw the reviews and had a good feeling about it. When I walked in, I knew it was going to be good. Was greeted nicely by the lady at the register and she kindly gave me a rundown of the menu. I wanted to order multiple items but went with their most popular, steak burger. They use ground ribeye so the ratio was perfect and the fresh lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle on the brioche bun complimented the 6 oz patty perfectly. They have picnic tables outside and on a sunny day it was great to eat outside. They also have some local items for sale (honey, olive oil, jams, and more). I went with Goodson Pecans original granola because well pecans are the best and it’s very low in sugar so you get to enjoy the oats and pecan flavor. Already looking forward to my next visit when work takes me down 85 south again soon. If you made it this far in the review, what are you waiting for,...
