S & S Foods — Local services in Holly Pond

Store has definitely seen better days but still tries to keep up with new improvements. Has a large variety and selection of foods and some good deals. The store it self gets five stars however the workers do not. At least not all the workers. There was a young lady working the other day and I still cant get the way she looked me up and down... She was looking at me as if I were a criminal and about to rob the place. I'm 5 foot tall, and she was looking at me so hard I started questioning me too!

And it's not even the young lady, there has been older workers that has also made me feel uncomfortable in this store to the point I just want to leave. I get it I look different than most people walking around Cullman county but can we please be a little more respectful.

I'm very grateful to even HAVE a local grocery store here in Holly Pond, Alabama. Especially considering we're a town of WELL UNDER 1000 People, don't get me wrong. The people that work there go above and beyond to be helpful and accommodating. But with that being said the only reason I can't give it 5 stars is due to price and selection. Obviously being a small town grocery they don't have shelf space for everything a Public type store would have. But I was a bit surprised that being in such a rural community they are very lacking in fresh herbs (ONLY carry cilantro) and products. Was disappointing. This store has a horrible selection. They never have anything that I need when I go up there. I told myself numerous times I was never going to go back. I've given it several other chances though and the most recent time I even called ahead to make sure they had what I needed. The person on the phone told me after I asked who make sure three times that for sure they had what I wanted. When I got there they did not have what I wanted fresh or frozen. So I wasted a 20 minute car ride my time and gas for absolutely nothing. Would not recommend just keep going till you get to a bigger better store. Also the prices are pretty atrocious on...
