We used this store for our new home bulit with Vermont buliders in 2020 for all the flooring installed. We didn't have a problem picking out the tile and the wood flooring. The big problem was with the tile installation contractor they use. He assured me he had the experience to install the heated floor correctly, but obviously, he didn't or didn't care how he installed it. Unfortunately, now I have a huge unnecessary ugly repair in my new master bathroom. It first started when I had an issue 2 years ago with the heated floor, and it stopped heating. I called Schluter first to inspect the heated floor problem. After the Schluter technician came out and inspected my floor, he informed me the installation was done incorrectly. According to the tech, wire spacing was done every 4 pucks and not every 3 pucks like the installation manual states. The floor worked ok except for inconsistent hot and cold spots due to the improper wire spacing. The technician also said it would probably stop working due to the improper installation causing the cable to overheat from the wider spacing. The store did offer some money back after I contacted them regarding my issue. To their credit, they did compensate me a small amount for the issue, but I should have made them fix the entire floor and replace it at their cost. This repair is going to cost me in excess of $2,000. That's my mistake for not pushing the issue to have it fixed by Total Flooring at their cost. 3 years later, and the heated floor finally succumbed to the improper installation. Unfortunately for me, Schluter will not warranty an improperly installed heating cable. I have installed 2 of these floors myself in the past and have had zero issues. My advice to you is to get everything inspected before you put the tile down. The older tile guy who worked for Total Flooring as a contractor bragged about his 35 years experience. I guess that just means there are going to be a lot of failing heated floor installation jobs to fix. I would never come back to this store for future work nor recommend them. Now I'm tearing out my 5 year old master bath tile floor and replacing everything myself. Be sure you get a warranty from them if you use total flooring and watch the installation process. The tile guy cut many corners and didn't even put the cable under the center seating area like I asked him to do when I was at the house originally to see how things were going. The products they sell are quality, but the installation crews are not top-notch, and that's a huge problem. I hope this review helps some of you who are thinking about using this place, but for me, never again. I wish I could post a better review of the installation. It's really unbelievable that I'm even doing this. Words can't describe how I'm feeling with every swing...
Read moreWhen my husband and I purchased our new home, we were fortunate to have a semi finished basement. We knew immediately we wanted to install flooring. We met Patrick through a Costco Shop Card promo. He came to our house and took out a piece of string and marble. I wasn't really sure what was going on. Patrick explained that our basement floor was not level and in his EXPERT opinion, he felt that installing any type of flooring was not a good idea. We asked what would be an alternative and he said carpet. I think he initially thought that the appointment was over. We asked if he had carpet samples and he enthusiastically said yes. He brought in samples and suggested some types and brands. We asked for more samples in different colors to be mailed so we can make a decision. After some time and talking with friends and family, someone suggested the Silk Strand from Mohawk. This was not part of what Patrick showed us, but I asked him about it anyway. He said they carry it and it was not part of the Costco Shop Card promo. We said we didn't care. He provided us a quote and within a week, we solidified the contract. The installers came about a few weeks after that and like magic, our basement was transformed to something my husband and I could not even imagine. We loved that Patrick was professional, transparent and honest. Installing carpet was the furthest from my husband's and my mind. I'm glad that Patrick was open to showing us samples. The installers did an AWESOME job. They were also professional and very efficient throughout the whole process. They cleaned up everything when they were done and moved back the furniture as planned. We highly recommend Patrick and Total Flooring! Thank you for helping us make our basement into a wonderful place to hang out in. Next up, pool table. (photos were taken within minutes after the installers left, so...
Read moreWhat to expect: extensive damage, no clean up, no apologies, and a lot of disrespect. We had 3 small bedrooms, 1 hallway, and stairs carpeted. All furniture, old underlayment, carpet, and tack strips were carefully removed by us, the homeowners, prior to the install. As you can see from the pictures, the subcontractors left extensive damage like scratches, dings, grease marks, yellow glue on multiple baseboards, door trims, corners, walls, and the hallway ceiling. We were originally told from the salesperson that these were not subcontractors, they were employees of TF. That was a lie. When we brought up the damage to TF, they said that the marks can be wiped away and that the damage would be covered by furniture. This is not an appropriate excuse for their poor workmanship. TF then tried to blame the damage on us. TF does not stand behind their clients, so we are writing this review to make other potential clients aware. Walls cannot be painted in patches because it leaves hotspots. Entire walls and the hallway ceiling needed to be repainted to cover up scratches, entire baseboards and trims needed to have the grease marks removed and then repainted. Has anyone ever tried to remove grease marks from flat ceiling paint, yeah it does not work. Nothing is more nerve racking then having to repaint on top of fresh carpeting. The contractors left shreds of carpet pieces everywhere for us to vacuum up after they left. 4 vacuum canisters full of shreds. What a terrible way to leave a client’s home. Total Flooring damaged our property, wasted our time and hard earned money, and could not come to a resolution for reimbursement. Shame....
