I will give one star because all side road access to the spring is blocked by the "do not trespass" & "private property" signs on the road and easy access to the springs. The only ways you can get there is to sneak in Carlson Hotel and try to access the springs crossing the river... The Hip / Indian Camp is also forbidden to enter(it's illegal)… which there is only a place below that location where you would have to cross the freezing cold river and slippery rocks to hike for 0.7 miles to access the hot springs...
I do not recommend going there. Even the locals won't tell you how to get there, you will have to figure it out after two days of attempting to find a gap on the side of the road or the hotel to go there. I posted a photo of one of the crossing spot (good luck, please have hiking sticks/crutches)
Such a beautiful place and no access at all to the place.
So please, if you attempt, then go before mid November.
Other than that, the trip from Portland to the location is very scenic, which I would give all the 5 stars due to the breath...
