My fiancé and I came in to purchase a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield FDE. We had come in a week ago to get a feel for what gun would be best for him. Unfortunately I don't remember who we dealt with but he was extremely helpful, very knowledgeable about the different guns we might be interested in. Chris chose the FDE, but we weren't ready to purchase it that night. We went home, did some research and found a competitive price with Cabela's. We came in tonight to finally purchase the gun. I will say it was a little rough as it took longer than expected. But KEITH that helped us out went far above and beyond what we anticipated!! When we got there, he was the only one at the desk, already helping customers. So we stood and waited, he let us know he'd be with us shortly. No problem. When he was freed up he came over (still the only employee at the counter), we told him what we wanted and we started the paperwork process. He was very knowledgeable of the gun and helped assure us it was the right purchase for us. He made good conversation which we appreciated as we are very outgoing people and don't like standing awkwardly with someone while making a purchase. There was a mix up with the form faxed to the SP and the original ended up getting lost in transition. But while waiting for the confirmation to come back, Keith had to help the other customers that began to pile up behind us (again, because he was the only one behind the counter). No problem! We anticipated a process coming through the door. After probably a half hour another employee, Cody, came behind the counter and asked if we were all set. I made the mistake of telling him we were waiting on a background check instead of just saying yes, we're just waiting for Keith. By this interaction, Keith had already taken on 2 more customers. Cody was very unpleasant. After going out back and trying to find the original of the background check, he came back and began to roll his eyes at the process being slowed. Keith asked for his assistance in helping another lady who was picking up an order and all we heard was "Well I can't do anything about that right now." And stood while Keith went out back to continue assisting us (still juggling 2 other customers). When the mix up was finally resolved, in front of all the customers at the counter, Cody made a statement to Keith along the lines of "This is why you don't take on more than one task because things get messed up." and "This is why we need more people." A simple mix up that we were patient through, and NONE of the mix up was because of Keith, which we knew. Both of us work in the automotive industry, and looked at each other right away knowing that is NOT how you speak to other employees, especially in front of other customers, no matter what the situation is. Keith helped a total of 5 other customers while we waited while nobody else was behind the counter. In the end, we were happy to cash out with Keith who also assisted us in what he thought was the best holster and ammo for Chris's new S&W. We ended up purchasing both of his recommendations. He went over the contents of the box, answered all our questions and was able to match the competitive price we presented! We walked out of there extremely happy customers (with Keith). I made sure to tell him not to take any grief, we appreciate him as I shook his hand before leaving. Props to you Keith, you made our night!! -Taylor Lowe &...
Read moreI visited Bass Pro Shop in Hooksett on 7/10/2024 with my wife to assist another family member picking out a handgun. It was his first handgun purchase and he wanted my opinion. I’m a retired New Hampshire Police Officer with 22 years of service. I have purchased several firearms from this store and had a great experience. My wife and I arrived before our family member and browsed the store, to include the gun counter, we used the restrooms and my wife left the store to get an item she forgot in the car at one point. When our family member arrived about 30 mins later we approached the gun counter and were initially ignored. I observed a few glances from employees and when an employee finally came over we asked to see a firearm. The employee said that he would need to see all our ID’s and directed a comment to my wife saying, “you’ve been taking pictures of guns” and that security had watched her taking photos. I didn’t know what he was talking about but my wife had taken a photo of a gun in the gun case because she liked the color scheme. Taken aback my wife said she took a photo of a gun. She’s done it before in that store and there isn’t anything posted that you can’t. She took a selfie with a stuffed moose as well, that wasn’t mentioned. He pressed a little more and seemed to be assuming we were trying to obtain a firearm illegally. Only when I showed him my retired police ID did he say he “felt better”. I asked him if there was an issue taking a picture of a gun. He said my wife could have sent a photo of the gun to somebody and that she had left the store at one point. It was an accusatory conversation. Our family member filled out the appropriate paperwork to purchase the handgun, after a delay the employee said was caused by store security deciding whether or not to allow the purchase. He further went onto explain that our family member would face a lengthy prison term and fine if he walked out of the store and provided us the firearm. He said that most of the security were ex law enforcement. I wasn’t going to write the review but I’ve spent a few thousand dollars in this store. To be followed around on surveillance for browsing and my wife confronted for taking a photograph of a gun is ridiculous. If the behavior was deemed “suspicious” by store security and ex law enforcement professionals, they should have approached and asked a few simple questions or called the local police department instead of being “secret squirrels” in the back room or having a counter employee make accusations and really ruin a family day. I handled two decades of investigations professionally and there is a proper manner to approach and speak to somebody. Having worked with civilian store loss prevention and store security hundreds of times this staff needs some work. Very disappointed. Attached is the photo my wife took that raised the red...
Read moreWent in last Wednesday (19th) to look at their boats. Found what I wanted and talked to a couple sales people about it. The boat was marked as being on sale for Cabela's Club Members with 0 percent interest if you sign up for their credit card. I didn't have the appropriate vehicle to take it home so we told the sales people we would go home and sign up for the credit card and buy the boat online for pick-up. The very next day I placed the order online but it wasn't on sale anymore according to the website. I called the store and they said the sale price ended the 16th and there was nothing they could do about it. I then called corporate and they referred me back to the store and it would be up to the discretion of the store manager. Yesterday I went to go pick it up at the store. I was notified that one of my items was cancelled by the employee at the store. I never got any indication of that via email. I then proceeded to ask them about the sale price. The lady at customer service (she was awesome) called her manager Jeff. Jeff proceeded to educate me about ordering online and told me I should have bought it the day I came in. I repeatedly told him that neither of their sales people told us that the sale was almost over, even though it had ended days ago apparently but they still had the sign up. If I had known the sale was going to be over or was actually over I would have bought it right there and then and come back later with my truck. After 15 minutes of repeated discussion of him saying the sign was wrong because the sale was already over I suggested a gift card to Jeff for the difference. He agreed to give me a gift card for half. At this point I was disgusted with the entire situation and just wanted my boat. I then proceeded to the back of the store to pick it up. Went to customer pick-up, rang the bell twice...nobody was there. At this point there is a tornado warning and it is thundering. Jeff opens a door at a different place and waves us over. It is now down-pouring and there is a severe thunderstorm with an active tornado warning going on. Jeff helps load the boat in the truck, closes the door and leaves us outside trying to quickly tie the boat into the truck while getting soaking wet. I am hoping that anyone else would have let me back the truck into the bay so that we could get it tied in out of the severe weather. I have talked to many other sale people at Bass Pro and have had a great experience. This experience has turned me off from Bass Pro maybe forever. Jeff clearly had other things he wanted to do with his day and had no problems leaving 2 people outside trying to get the boat secure in...
