We absolutely loved coming here. Very professional and friendly. Sensei is always great when the kids come in, happy and ready to get to work. The kids have learned that they are there to be taught karate, and they also come in ready to get started. Very efficient. Sensei is very good with the kids and gives them a chance to show that they know the material, it builds their confidence. He also shows that he is continuously learning himself, to gain better insight Into the children. Everything about our experience has been positive, right down to how close knit all of the parents are. It is like a family. An example of how amazing I think the dojo is, can be seen in Sensei's work ethic. When he started doing morning hours, we were the only ones for at least 3 weeks that attended (the other kids had school, and word hadn't spread yet that he had morning classes) Sensei came in every day and happily taught my daughter. One child, in that time slot and one on the next time slot. Never once did he make us feel funny to be there, or tell us to come to night classes until he had more kids in the am. To me, that is dedication. We unfortunately had to move recently, and the dojo is one of the things we are going to miss the most. We visited a few places in NY (4 or 5) and so far they have been overpriced (almost double) for less time (2 days a week vs the 6 you get here) and so scattered and unprofessional. By the time the kids settle down to learn, half the class time is gone, and a few of the teachers seemed annoyed to have to be there. It was crazy, so needless to say, I haven't joined any other place. I would give Team Tiger 10...
Read moreWe started bringing our 3 yr old daughter in November. She was enjoying it and I enjoyed bringing her. However, I had told the sense that we would be moving and things got pretty busy and I started to be 2 mins late and sometimes more to the class. I wasn't trying to be disrespectful and I really wanted to continue to take my daughter and he never said anything to me about it. We were late again this morning and he didn't say anything but he seem agitated. I don't have a problem with the instructor disciplining my daughter but I do have a problem when he was being mean to her for other reasons. He asked her to do a punch and she asked him by signaling with her hand if that was the right one. He told her that he wasn't going to tell her which is fine because he wants to make sure she knows. But she kept signaling so he send her to sit down and called up the other students. When it was her turn again he ask her to do a punch again and she kept signaling and was confused so he sat her down again and told her she could come up again when he was ready. The 3rd time she went up she was beyond confused and the sense is getting pretty agitated. He tells her to do a punch and she just staring at him because she obviously doesn't know what he is asking of her. Instead of getting down and calmly telling her what he wants her to do. He gets a chair sits down, stares at her and tells her to throw a punch. He then gets up and tells her that why is she acting this way that she has never done this before and that if she wants to go home. By this time she is so fluster that she just...
Read moreOur son started as a 4 yr old in Team tiger. He’s come leaps and bounds in just over a year with his confidence and his coordination. It was painful in the beginning for us as parents but Sensei quickly showed us he had the goofball behavior handled with our son 😂 Parents: if you’re thinking about signing up your son or daughter, just come and do the free trial. There’s children starting as young as 3? Maybe 2 1/2? I believe. There’s one lil girl who is around that age and she is KILLIN IT! I hope she sticks with it because she’ll be an animal!! The patience and compassion Sensei Cook has with the kids is pretty amazing. Make no mistake, there’s no playing games in the dojo (unless it’s scheduled ;p) but Sensei is a very intuitive leader and Sensei and so are his other instructors (Senpai). You definitely feel like you’re part of a team. There’s no arrogance or animosity between students in the dojo. It’s such a great atmosphere for them to...
