We went as a couple to witness a catch and release of migrating owls coming down from Canada. After meeting inside we watched a brief presentation on the owls, their lives and habits that brought them to this moment where they would be captured and after data being taken on their health, approximate age weight, etc, they would be tagged or banded and then released. We then walked on a small elevated boardwalk in the dark with flashlights to a point where we stepped off and went into the woods to where the nets were. The owls were then delicately taken from the nets and brought inside. Then we sat around the table underneath the lights and got a great look at the small owls and they proceeded to gather information on age weight, healthy fat, their overall health etc. They then explained to us what they would do with the information once it was gathered how it's being mapped across other states. It was a great program and there were kids and parents and couples. It is great place to bring a date to. What girl can resist an owl c'mon. We were in a group of 15-20 people as they staggered the program times. I can't say enough good things about the Institute and the programs they support. The facility itself is...
Read moreWe had a lovely day with perfect weather. You must remember to book by calling in advance because we didn't have reservations and almost didn't make it into the tour. Also, remember to bring water. The butterfly house is very hot so you may only be able to stay in it for short periods of time. You can go in and out but of course you have to be careful so as not to allow butterflies to escape. Although we didn't catch any butterflies while on the walking tour, we had a lot of fun trying. This is a great thing to do in the spring. We will...

I hiked the trails from here all the way to Hopewell and I was satisfied. It was a flat path for most of the hike until the steep climb over the ridge into Hopewell. I then hiked Back. It was solid and I was happy to complete it. It's not a difficult hike but would be nice for an afternoon stroll but if you want somthing challenging then I recommend something else. Very good upkeep of the trails and the...
