My favorite time of year. Vendors, Sponsors, BBQ, Carnival, fried foods, livestock, concerts, and much much more. If you're looking for an event to come to while visiting Houston, this is when to check out how Texas gets down. Try all sorts of different flavors from hundreds of different teams from all over the globe. Carnival has foods, games, rides, and events for kids of all ages. I do not recommend staying at the hotels in the area as they normally come with a price hike during this season. Paid Parking is all over the area, blue lot to us making it easier to cross via the bridge and straight to the gates to get in. (Once you pay for admission) The BBQ contest is normally only for the first 3 days of the HLSR Rodeo. (Typically the last week of February. While most tents are private parties, there are a few free tents like "The Chuck Wagon." But the events go on, as there's always a number of performances done each day. Just have to check who you wish to see on what day through the months ahead. Plenty of animals for the kids to see, petting zoo, ride them, and educational. We will always be back each year. Until next time.

If you’re Texan, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo isn’t just an event it’s part of who we are. Year after year, it brings families and friends together, creating memories that last a lifetime. From the rodeo action to the concerts and Cookoffs, there’s something for everyone. Some of my best moments growing up in Houston happened at the rodeo. It’s a tradition that runs deep, and I’m proud to say it’s part of what makes being Texan so special! If you haven’t been, you’re missing out on a true Texas experience.

Overall, the Houston Rodeo offers fantastic entertainment, a wide range of food vendors for every budget, and exciting activities for the entire family – 5 stars for all of these!

ONLINE FOOD CREDIT BUYERS BEWARE 1 STAR
.. However, there is one major downside that affected our experience. The food tickets purchased online are ONLY valid at the carnival food vendors, not at the more popular BBQ and higher-quality food options. This was really disappointing, as it’s easy to assume that food bucks would be accepted at all food stands. Unfortunately, we bought two $50 food credits for $75, but couldn’t use them for the better food options, which was a...
