During the initial Coronavirus "Stay Home Stay Safe" days, I pulled out boxes of old family slides, and tried to view them by holding them up to a window. I almost ordered a slide view box, but then decided it was time to turn the slides into photographs for easier viewing, and organizing in albums. I looked into the purchase of a scanner and thought I'd do the work myself, then decided against that idea due to the cost of a top quality scanner, plus the hours of work involved. When I searched online for someone who could do the scanning professionally, I saw wonderful reviews of the work done by Amira at Precious Memories, and called her. I was a bit fearful to hand over slides with precious family memories on them, but as soon as I started conversations via email and phone calls, I knew they would be in good hands. The process began with a great service by Amira: she provides pick up and drop off of the items you want her to work with! Away went a box full of about 250 slides from the late 60's to early 70's. She kept me updated with her progress throughout, and clarified questions to make sure I got just what I wanted. Less than two weeks later, Amira delivered back to me the original slides, now neatly organized and labeled in archival slide files. I also received the matching photos, all organized by date into separate envelopes. On top of that, all images were placed on a USB; these will be easily shared with family members, and will provide fun memories for a family Zoom meeting. What an absolute gift to have these family memories, and I am SO GLAD I didn't try to do this myself - SO MUCH better to have gone with Amira's experience, knowledge, and expertise. Also, Amira was able to identify some old negatives that I had from the 50's as Medium Film, and was able to scan these and print them as well (and even sent me a great article about medium film). I'm excited to say that my sister is going to contribute a box of old negatives, and I am thrilled to be able to hand them over to Amira! This was a fantastic experience! I had a crate of about 25 photo albums to have scanned before we left Houston and looked online at a number of service providers. Precious Memories was the only company that had completely transparent pricing, a photo of the owner, and that responded to my email inquiry early the next morning. The owner was delightful to work with and clearly has a passion for this kind of work...it is not just a way to make money. She provided lots of details about the service, including how she would use high resolution scanning so reprints of our small pictures would be clear, use sleeves to store our old black and white family pictures, and how she would send our original in archival boxes for storage. Amira was very flexible about the photo delivery and used my preferred service to upload photos in clearly marked folders by year, event, and other grouping based on how the photo albums were labeled. Amira was incredibly professional in her approach to our project and I'm convinced that she took the same level of care with our old photographs as I would have done if I'd been able to do what she did. Her end results were fantastic. Apart from scanning the originals, she also provided additional copies of enhanced versions of those photographs that had deteriorated through age. In all cases the enhanced versions were improvements (but it was still nice to have the original scans as well).

Following an initial project of about 400 photos that ranged in sizes, quality and color, I asked her to undertake another project of about 300 photos. Her second project was just as great as her first and I'd have no hesitation in asking her to do a third.
