It looks a bit messy at first and in some areas in the back, BUT when you get a closer look, there's a lot growing there! I was just checking the place out and an older gentleman was kind enough to explain how the garden runs. $6/month, free good-quality fertilizer, and great advice from experienced master gardeners. Some of the plots are overgrown, while others are very organized. Each has it's own unique flair, growing whatever the owner likes. In the far back, I'm told is land used by the Plant It Forward initiative. I took off one star for cleanliness in some areas. But honestly, it seems like an amazing place and opportunity for people to learn and grow and develop their gardening skills. And judging by the gentleman I spoke with and the personality of each plot, it seems like a great place. Good vibes.

Stopped by to get some spots at the White Elephant. Tried to call in advance to double check that someone was in the office, unfortunately no reply and also note that the hours stated in the voicemail message are not the same as the ones here on Maps. The recording says M-Thurs 10-12. The office is easy enough to find on the first floor and appreciated that there’s an accessible ramp to the building (it’s on the opposite side from the office.) The doorbell wasn’t working when I stopped by and the door was locked, but a couple loud knocks worked just fine. Sign up was a breeze and the lady who helped me was very nice to talk to and explained things well. Overall a good experience.

The Westbury Community Garden provides me with yard space that I don't have living in an apartment building. I have learned so much from the other gardeners. We have seed planning parties, monthly meetings with talks about planting, and fun parties at the garden to taste and share all our food.

The neighboring farmers now offer a weekly farmer's market on Saturdays 9-5 and Sundays 10-6, and offer a weekly farm share program if you want a basket of veggies every week. Everything is organically grown.

The garden is still growing with a beautiful orchard, perennial gardens, and now a tree program to grow trees to be planted around the city. This is a wonderful group to be a part of for everyone from young to old, families, individuals, or groups who want to take part in gardening. We also host volunteers and Girl...
