This honestly deserves a 1 star, but the actual bowling alley experience has always been great so I hate to do it, but me and my friend went there to have some beers and play pool and the old bar waitress with the curly hair and glasses was miserable and put a whole dampen on our mood, she was EXTREMELY rude right from the start, we both ordered a draft beer which she filled 3/4 of the way and didn’t have any manners at all during the interaction, and then after we tipped her she shut the lights off on the bar so seemingly we thought the bar was closed which was weird because she didn’t announce any type of last call, then she seen we finished our drinks from afar and didn’t say anything and she ignored us, then she got all smiley with a group of white people that walked up to the window and gave them great customer service , I felt beyond disgusted and I’ll never come back the way she treated me (a Spanish man) and my black friend , I hate to believe racism is alive especially in NJ but we were definitely treated poorly compared to the great smiley customer service multiple white people who kept coming up for drinks got , meanwhile she’s ignoring us for 2 hours while we gave her nothing but manners and respect. I had a birthday party for myself and 2 friends in the private section of Howell Lanes the other day and it was amazing! The private section is a whole private room with 5 lanes, and when we booked the room it came with 5 pizzas and soda. They also have a full catering menu so we were able to add on more food. The whole staff was so helpful and accommodating every step of the way! Jeremy helped me book the room originally and was so informative and helpful. Bridget and Nicole worked the party the night of and were so sweet and accommodating! Nicole was there to help serve drinks (we just had everyone open their own tabs at the bar) and Bridget was there to make sure everything was running smoothly and to help with anything else we needed. My friend who’s pregnant even did her gender reveal there that night and Bridget and Nicole helped make it extra special and played “Isn’t She Lovely” over the speaker when we found out it was a girl! I went there with my adult family who were all paying for ourselves individually. As soon as we walked in , the bowling alley smelled like smoke. The lady at the desk had us pay for our bowling shoes up front. She asked for my shoe as collateral for the entire group after the other members of my group paid for their shoes individually. At the end when I paid for my wife and I and was ready to leave, she wouldn't give me my shoe back until the rest of my group paid for their game. Even though the floor was cold and I already paid, the lady at the desk was dismissive, disrespectful and had a rude attitude towards myself and my family. My adult family all paid for their own games, so I did not understand why only my shoe was taken for the group instead of collecting a shoe from each person as they paid for their shoes. A suggestion would be if you're going to have people pay for the shoes up front, have them pay for the games upfront as well so you don't need to take someone's shoe for...
