Not a big reviewer so I'm hoping the owners see this. I moved to FL just over 2 years ago & quickly found this place. Absolutely loved it!! At that time & I emphasize, "at that time" it was a great date night, great atmosphere, decent food, good drinks, just a good night out. We loved this place so much that we attended the entire season our first year here in FL & decided to grab season tickets. Last year's season was also really well done, not quite as good as the first but still very good & it was mainly the food that dropped in quality. Still very happy, we bought season tickets again for this year. We've attended two shows so far, the food has really gone downhill for the first show & the second show the food was horrendous. It was literally an ongoing joke at the table that we would all play hockey or baseball after the show with the bread rolls that were served. They were more like rocks but kinda funny. Three out of 6 people at the table had undercooked chicken which most of you know, can be quite dangerous. The show Yeah, Yeah, Yeah definitely didn't hit me as one of the better shows but I would have stayed until the end if my other half wasn't so unhappy. I understand that show quality & type preferences are at the complete & sole discretion of each individual but I like the Beatles, definitely did not like this group. They actually seemed as though they were fighting between themselves or something, not sure but something wasn't right. In fairness, I did notice that many people were truly enjoying the band but I thought it wasn't the greatest at all. My other half, well, she hated this show, literally hated it to the point we left the show early. We weren't the only people leaving either. So as much as the show being good or bad is opinionated, the food was not opinionated at all, it was just bad, real bad. Not sure who got paid to make this food but their contract should be immediately terminated for serving raw chicken to guests. This was a special night for us as well, we had family visiting from up north so we brought 3 extra people to attend this show with us, at our expense. We had previously paid for our tickets in our season ticket package, then added 3 more tickets, paid for everyones drinks & took care of the tip but feel like I was completely ripped off on this particular show. All 5 of us left early & again, we weren't the only ones leaving early. I want to reemphasize, I'm not really a reviewer, I only write a review if something is extremely good or extremely bad which I understand is not really fair to those who land in-between (my apologies if you land in that category). We have 4 more shows on our season tickets. I have to say & I really hate to say it, if the food quality & show quality does not improve, we will not be purchasing season tickets again nor will we probably ever attend another show at Suncoast Broadway Dinner Theatre again. That bothers me to say because I remember how great it was when we first found it. Unfortunately this place is slowly declining in quality & many of the guests talk about how great it used to be. As for the people & waiters & the tipping complaints, the people are always friendly & happy but always very busy. Do not expect immediate service, these waiters are also in the show, waiting is not their full-time job & I think they do great, or at least try to do great. The tipping is clearly stated as a "suggested" tip. Those poor actors bust their butts on & off stage, if you prefer not to add more, don't. I do, they deserve it. Now if I had to tip the cooks, I'd demand they tip me for eating their food... I truly hope this place turns around very quickly, I don't want to lose this place but better to lose this place than waste my money. Best of...
Read moreI have literally no idea how this place has 4.5 stars. It is an absolute joke. The ONLY redeeming quality was the actual show itself, but even that could not compare to other dinner theaters I have been to. The building is old and run down. The food is cold, bland and so so disappointing. This was our first experience at this particular dinner theater, but we have been to others in different cities. This place should be ashamed of the prices that it charges for what you are offered. We saw our waitress once. We got the initial water refill and then nothing else. A lot of people are commenting on how cool it is that some of the wait staff are also part of the show, but maybe if they weren’t service could be better. The staff’s duties are stretched so thin! To make matters even worse (not that I’m even sad about it because I really wanted to leave the second we got there), we were asked to leave by the bartender before intermission. Why, you might ask? Because our baby was laughing and enjoying his time at the show. I understand that it may have been a little disruptive, but I called the theater prior to arriving to ensure they allowed babies and that it would be ok for us to bring our 9 month old son. They said, yes, of course! Their only disclaimer was that the show may be loud, so I should be mindful of that. The second my son started making any noise, I immediately left my seat and took him over to the hallway. He continued occasionally being excited by the singing, lights and dancing. Not upset, not crying, not going on and on. The bartender stormed over the hostess, giving us a death glare as he did. Shortly after he said whatever he said to her, she told me that if my baby can’t be quiet, then I need to stand outside with him. Yes, this theater is in FL, so this would probably typically be a feasible option, but it is the middle of winter and a polar vortex, so it was a particularly cold night. No, I will not stand outside with my baby. I told them that we would just leave, but I wanted a refund. The manager fought me on this for a bit, but finally agreed to refund our drinks and dessert. I would not have been nearly as upset, had they not told me that babies were welcome. The whole ordeal got me thinking, God forbid someone older with special needs were to be enjoying their show and wasn’t able to keep quiet. Would they make them leave or stand outside in the cold? If you take anything away from my experience, please do yourself a favor and save your money. Tampa bay has so many other wonderful ways to spend your evenings rather than at this disappointing place and, if you would like some suggestions of dinner theaters in this country that are actually worth your time and money,...
Read moreWe went to see Grease and the show was incredible. The acting was great and the singing voices that have are unbelievably amazing! The service on the other hand, was surprising. Our waitress was Kassidy and I'm not sure if she was new or what the situation was but she only had the front row, maybe 5-6 tables. I asked her multiple times for napkins and she kept saying she would get them but never did. We barely saw her the whole night, including at her other tables. She was not part of the show, solely serving tables. She seemed very uncoordinated, and was very hard to communicate with. She came to the table 3 times before bringing my grandmother her Pepsi, even though we all had been served our drinks. Before the show started, she asked for our dessert order.. we were not even halfway through our meal so we asked her to give us a minute to look over the desserts. She never came back. After Act 1, during intermission she came to the table. We asked to order dessert and she said unfortunately the order has to be taken before the show. After I reminded her of what happened she said "oh i'm so sorry" She was able to put in my grandmother's dessert since it didn't need to be warmed up but none of us were able to have one. After that we never saw her again. From that point forward the manager (I'm assuming) started taking care of all her tables. Bringing their checks, including ours to make sure everything was correct. I'm not exactly sure what was going on that night, if it was her first shift, she was going through something personally or what exactly was happening but she was not focused. We've always had very good experiences at the Suncoast Dinner Theatre and there is a lot of talent there. The actors that serve tables do an excellent job at handling both their lines and waiting on tables. Out of her few tables we were the largest party, of 8. I was very disappointed with the service. The bill was $85 and with the suggested gratuity would have brought us to $117. She did not deserve that much, especially since by intermission she was gone.. I don't know if she left or was having a breakdown, but a $32 TIP is absolutely ABSURD for the service we received. Thank you Suncoast for once again putting on a wonderful show and great performance. The food is always good and warm. As soon as a pan was empty they were right there with a fresh hot pan to fill. Thank you to all the cooks, actors and bar staff for being quick and efficient. Thank you to who I believe was the manager, coming over to check and make sure everyone's bill...
