Okay, to start I really wanted to like this attraction. We went there expecting scares but only got a few laughs and giggles 🤭. There are three different parts of the attraction: Haunted House, Asylum, and Hay Ride for $65/person. You can choose any of the individual attractions as well and I'd recommend that's the way to go! The highlights were the Asylum and Hayride and saved the trip after being disappointed by the Haunted House. So let me break it down for you all: The haunted house and actors are done well and is a pretty lengthy attraction of about thirty minutes or so. The problem was the scare factor which is a 1/10. There were so many things we thought of that could have caused some real scares and they have the playbook for those things as proven in the other two parts of the attraction Asylum and Hayride. The same effort put into the scripts and show really needs to be a part of the actual haunted house walkthrough. The haunted house felt as if you were just browsing through a well done movie set with the actors in costume on display with growls and expected swipes toward you. Unless high as a kite or tipsy, you won't find much scare factor during this part of the tour. Might be scary for kids but not most adults. Now for the Asylum and Hayride, these parts of the attraction are really well done with great acting, a real script and show to be a part of, and overall saved the experience. Scare factor bumped up to a 5/10 maybe but the show and experience was actually fun to experience. The Hayride, filled with g*nshots at half human half animal hybrids to pyrotechnics 🧨 was another addition to the attraction that saved the experience for its funness, not necessarily fear factor. If you go Id suggest skipping the long wait for haunted house and go str8 for Asylum and Hayride and you will get a majority of the FUN experience. Id love to go back to haunted house if they scripted it out like a show similar to Asylum but I guess it may be too costly! I'd recommend it for first timers though with my...
Read more5 out of 5 for my experience at Rise Haunted House! My friends and I drove from NOLA and it was worth the trip and the combo ticket price (we purchased early in the season and got a discouned price). I'm a big fan of haunted houses and I left feeling very satisfied. We did all 3 attractions: the main house, The Asylum and the Hayride.
Stand-Outs: They have a literal army of scare actors and every single one was on their A game. Some roles seemed very physically demanding and loud (so much screaming) - not sure how they were able to do it over the course of the entire night - but wow! Great job!
While the main haunted house was solid, I was impressed by the uniquiness of The Asylum (immersive theater performance) and the Haunted Hayride. My friends and I all agreed we wanted to do The Asylum again to see if we could change the storyline. They had a snack stand so you could get refreshments between frights and a very large sitting area with picnic under an awning to relax or wait for your friends.
Could Improve: We arrived inside the entrance about 7:15, just after opening. We did not get inside the main haunted house until 9:30. We had a sitting break afterwards and refreshments. We did all 3 attractions and we didn't leave until 12:30-1 am. I wasn't expecting to be staying out that late or standing so long. Though with good friends and the horror movie trivia on the scenes, it did not feel like 2 hour wait for the main house - not terrible compared to other major haunted houses.
Oh, the horror trivia needs to be at least solid 2 hours long of unique questions. It really helped pass the time, but as soon as it started over 45 min or an hour long -we got bored. Consider adding some public domain horror movie clips into the show? And more horror questions please!!
I wish the main waiting area or maybe somewhere inside the house had a "Halloween Magic" vibe. Maybe like a tunnel of jack o'laterns with creepy scarecrows. Somewhere people could have a...
Read moreI will start off by saying the actual haunted house at this place is one of the best I've been to in my life, and I have been to more than 60 haunted houses throughout 6 states. (We also traveled from Florida to come here) Jump scares and props were hands down some of the best I've encountered, and I am VERY particular. With that, I will say that the interactive house (Asylum) was by far the WORST experience. It is interactive so they give you instruction in the beginning, however it is not enough instruction, they tell you, you will be touch, true, they tell you, you can interact, true they tell you, you can make your own decisions which will change the outcome, not true!!! One of our group members was involved in the interaction and was given an item to hold onto. The item was attempted to be snatched by a cast member, we thought it was part of the interaction. However, because our member refused, we were greeted with a SCREAMING security person as if we were trying to steal the item. We explained that we thought it was part of the "interaction" and were followed by security the rest of the way. As an adult it is VERY disheartening these people who work for some of these houses have had probably 30 secs of training and that training is probably - make sure you yell at all patrons because if you are called, they are probably doing something wrong... I really wanted to give them 5 stars because that first house was so great but took 2 away because of the 2nd one. I recommend at least going for the actual haunted house, but I DO NOT recommend the interactive asylum. People skills are...
