In late December, our family booked a beach house off Palm Blvd and 44th street for mid July this year. It was a hefty price, upwards of $10k to rent this 5BD house. There were reviews on rental sites stating this house was a little dated, but we were OK with it not being brand spanking new. We just wanted a clean and safe house for our family to stay in and enjoy a week together. There were 2 small children and a baby included. When we checked in, we noticed the house was definitely not as pictured, but tried to make the best of it. As we entered the downstairs bedrooms, the AC was broken (that was fixed right away), but there was a strong smell of mildew or mold and air fresheners to cover it up. That is when we noticed the floorboard coming up and some were duct taped down. This was definitely a hazard. We were concerned our little ones would cut their feet, and who knows how long that water damage had been there if they were duct taping down the floors. There were holes in the wall behind the bedroom doors, and there was also a step that was broken on the main staircase in the house marked by, you guessed it, another piece of duct tape. The pool was clean, but the chairs around it all had rust on the bar right where you sit. One was completely broken. There was no shade in the pool area, so we rigged our beach shade to try and be comfortable outside. The lawn hadn't been tended to, and there was a fallen tree limb in the yard that was hazardous. We tried to make the best of it, but after one night, the dishwasher broke, and several of our family members fell ill due to the mold. We decided to call Carroll with our issues. We were told a manager would call us back, and they were timely in that manner. We searched and found another house through another rental agency to stay in that was much, much better. It was the weekend, and the manager on call we spoke to was kind and offered us a refund minus one night and the cleaning fee. They said we could check out the next day and take our time until our new house was ready. However, mid nap, the cleaners showed up at 11am (which we knew about and had packed up the bedrooms), but our baby needed to finish his nap, and we were then called by Carroll to leave as they had new renters coming in. There were NO renters (we had to drive by each day of our vacation to get to our new house), and we were surprised that Carroll would even rent this again until the risk and liabilities were resolved. We then had to go back out in 90+ temps with a baby and small children and find a place to "hang" with all of our stuff for a few hours. We felt we were kind and understanding through this whole debacle, but the abruptness and push to get us out asap, just to rent to another family knowing the hazards, lent us only to insure any future clients are aware of the possibility of this...
Read moreMy husband and I had plans to visit IOP recently. we had to divide out stay between 2 places. 1 of those places was a property managed by Mr. Carroll. After our 2nd night there (at the first location not managed by Carroll) my husband suffered a heart issue and we had to call 911 for an ambulance. The doctors advised him to follow up with his drs at home right away. My husband called to cancel the second part of out stay with mr Carroll. At that point we assumed we would have to leave. After talking with his doctors, they made an appt that left us 2 days to stay on vacation and his doctors said that they see no reason why we couldn't stay. My husband called mr carroll and they agreed on a stay of 2 nights instead of our original plans of 4 nights since we had to return home for a doctor visit. everything was set. about 5 hours later i went to the office to pay and was told the property was not available. mr carroll never handled the agreement and so it was open for someone else to book every tho we had an agreement. the other lady at the office called mr carroll and he offered no help to resolve the situation. I called my husband, whom at this point is trying to reach mr carroll with no luck. calling and texting and he isn't answering, yet when the lady in his office called him, he answered right away. Then my husband sent a text commenting on his lack of professionalism. Then he magically was available to talk. My husband got a call from him and answered it on speaker phone with my 9 year old sitting right there. After my husband answered, mr carroll, in a calm voice asked if this was Mr. So and so. When my husband confirmed, Mr. Carroll screamed in the phone that my husband can "S* his D*" and that he "hopes my husbands heart explodes in his chest and he dies". He continued to scream at my husband threatening him and my son was very scared and confused. My husband hung up called the property owner who was very apologetic and offered to make things right, however, after dealing with the likes of Mr Carroll and his vulgar, violent threats and wishes of death upon my husband, we were ready to go home. All because my husband questioned his professionalism. Ironically, he calls up and confirms our accusations that he is no professional. To call someone and wish death upon them is inexcusable. He will probably respond to this with some attempt to defend himself, but there is no defense for his immature and vulgar temper tantrum. To this day, its been about 2 weeks. We have never received any attempts from him whatsoever to apologize or show any remorse for his...
Read moreThe complex location and oceanfront views are wonderful. Unfortunately the unit could use an update to dated decor, and smelled of smoke. The smell was initially masked by overwhelming cleaning solution but after that wore off, the smell of smoke was undeniable and very disappointing since we are sensitive to smoke and its health effects. Also disappointing were neighbors (owners) within the complex. We were traveling with a large group (approx 20 families) staying in this and bordering complexes. When some other family friends attempted to walk with us and their leashed dog through our complex as we were all gathering at the beach, we were yelled at (harassed) by an owner telling us the dog was not allowed. The dog had used the bathroom in a side patch of dirt beside the parking lot and we were in the process of bagging the increment when the harassment began. We were told the police would be called and that we were in violation of rules within the complex, despite us seeing and meeting several dogs on property during our stay. I would never recommend spending your time or money on this complex. Although the views were gorgeous, my family nor the large extended group we were traveling with, will ever stay at seascape villas in the future. This unit was a little dated, smelled of overwhelming smoke within a “non smoking” unit, and I have never been spoken to or harassed by more vulgar people in my life - almost ruining a wonderful beach day for several families including children who witnessed the disappointing behavior. Save yourself money and time, it is evident the owners within this complex will make for a miserable time...
