Took my teenager and a few of his friends for low impact paintball Sat. This was our second visit. The referees were great , the staff was nice and friendly. But it was again a frustrating experience. My number one frustration is the website. I planned the activity and financial exceptions based on the information from the website. The website said open play for Saturday from 3-10, and listed the packages for low impact. When we came in at 3:15 the sweet girl verified the packages were the same as the website and I chose platinum for 4. That would be 900 paintballs with gear, cool. When I went to get refills I was advised there is no platinum options for low impact. 🤨and that was only for high impact by the owner who was running around clearly very busy and seemed to be annoyed that this IS the package I paid for. He then went on to say they don’t actually have a platinum package at all anymore not even for high impact, which I found very odd considering there had been another group who were handed bags of paintballs for their platinum packages. None the less he begrudgingly told the staff how many refills each should get, I collected the refill bottles went back out to the boys who were already in another round/game. When they emerged they asked for the time and I said it’s almost 4, to which they informed me per the referee they closed at 5 and wouldn’t have time to use all their ammo (600+ per kid remaining). This was a shock to me (and only added to my frustration), so I went back inside to inquire. The staff confirmed they did close at 5 and the 3-10 time was only during summer hours which started the end of May which was not listed on the website. I asked what we were supposed to do with all of this remaining ammo? The response was they may be able to stay 15mins over and let them essentially waste it by shooting it out in the trees. 🤨 I think my frustration came in making a sale for so much ammo if your aware they would not even have time to use it all and suggesting it just be wasted as a solution. In the end it worked out, more people came and I encouraged the boys fire more to use it in the game, and we shared the ammo with some other kids to extend their playtime. The staff stayed to 5:30 to allow them all to play one more round (there were more ppl than just my 4). I thanked them and was appreciative of this! The boys had a great time. Of course we will be back because there isn’t another option locally. The game play, the outside set up and the referees are all great. I do hope there is some time at least put into updating the website so the information for patrons to plan a visit is updated to avoid these frustrations. On a side note when we came 2 years ago it was a private party for 9, our party wasn’t added to the calendar and the owner and I had to go through his text messages for him to confirm we didn’t show up on the wrong date. Our party was double booked and it was really unorganized and frustrating, BUT! he attempted to make it right less begrudgingly than he was this time around. In the end I will recommend this place because the kids always have a good time but be prepared for some kind of disorganization/frustration. And there is something to be said for an owner and employees who will stay late to allow their guests/customers the best...
Read moreIt has been over a month since my last visit and since I have gone back a few positive changes where made earning an additional star. owner offered to split players up into groups Game modes where simple and fun with unlimited respawns even the more unique modes were fun and non stop action More Ref presence on the field Play hours were extended from 4 hours to 5 hours which makes the price feel much more fair. As for negatives: No safety or Rules briefing before play start. This is a huge thing that must change so all players are on the same level. The smaller arenas can have issues with the spawns being too exposed.
I write this review from the perspective of a seasoned airsoft player who went there exclusively to play airsoft. As such this review is for other airsofters that are considering playing here. We will start with the positive first. The location is composed of various different play areas of differing size and style. Each one we played on was fun and well made with great sight lines and structures. There is a store on sight to restock up on supplies and the facility has a restroom that is clean. An there was very large player turnout. For these reasons alone I give it 3 stars. Now for the negatives. Game modes were unique to the point of being strange and mostly ignored by players with most opting to instead play for kills. This became an issue when many of the games we played had no respawns, meaning 1 death saw the end of your play. This feels antithetical to the design of the arenas that lend towards quick action. This difference in arena and game rules leads to many players opting to sit back near spawn, camp, and simply not call their hits. I highly recommend to the owner to re-think their respawn policy to allow people to stay in the fight and encourage them to be more honest. Of the many arenas, only 1 feels suited for a crowd larger than 30 people. Having such a large crowd sounds nice but a vast majority are younger kids, and non-airsofters just out for a day of fun. This itself isn't bad but for other seasoned players looking for similar players, you won't find many here. Also hurting the player base is the lack of active referees. Among the younger players cheating ran rampant as a teenager in a red shirt stood uncaring ontop a bus. This was hurt by the fact the field lacks general safety rules found at any airsoft field. I chalk this up to the owner being new to airsoft and I expect this to be fixed and improved with time. My final grievance is with cost of play and hours of operation. The cost to play is 25$ before tax and around 27$ after. With other fields charging only a flat 20$ entry this seems high especially considering play hours are advertised to be 1pm to 5pm. In reality we didn't being playing until 1:45pm and went till 5:30. 27$ for roughly 4 hours seems unfair when most fields operate from 11am to 5pm. In summary, Battlezone is a fantastic series of arenas that are more than worth the drive for. All though they are held back in a few ways, most of these are easily fixable that I assume will be fixed in time. I will be returning and I would also like to recommend to the owner that on days with a very large crowd, consider breaking up the players into age brackets and using different arenas...
Read moreMy family had a fantastic experience at BattleZone Park.
I've been playing paintball for over 2 decades and at fields in the southeast, northeast, and mountain west. The experience here was among the best I've had from a recreation perspective. Refs were competent and helpful.
My son and daughter, who were playing for their first time had a fantastic first experience due to the refs and other players and I'd recommend this highly for new or inexperienced players. The field will leave something to be desired for those seeking more competitive play - though the player base does have experienced players, the field is not close to a regulation size or format.
For me, looking to have some fun with my kids, I couldn't ask for more. I will 100%...
