Mississippi Welcome Center — Local services in Jackson

This welcome center was well kept with separate parking areas for large trucks and regular vehicles. I appreciated that there was an attendant available as well as a security guard for safety. The men's room was clean and water fountains around along with trash receptacles. There was also an area for pet walking. It's a beautiful facility - very nice working there from what I can tell. Problem is the heavy handed security guard threatening me with arrest for no dog leashes in the dog area. It would be extremely helpful, if the policy is to have all dogs on leashes...to actually have a sign which states the policy (they don't, just says Dog Area). Furthermore, the security guard Charlie needs to tone down the intensity. A bit off...

The Mississippi Welcome Center on Highway 61, near Woodville is just great. The staff is knowledgeable and extremely friendly. The bathrooms are very clean and the reception center is filled with interesting memorabilia. We really enjoyed speaking with the gentleman at the counter and he provided us with a great insight of the area. This is a very worthwhile stop...
