My wife and I (both 75 years old) just returned from a 3 day custom tour with Teton Science School. To say that our expectations were fully met doesn't come close to describing our adventure. Our guide, Keven Taylor, has a masters in botany and a life-long doctorate as a naturalist. We hit all the typical tourist spots in Yellowstone and Kevin taught us a lot about each one. But, the real thrill was going out on the wildlife searches. Kevin was in constant radio contact with other guides while we went from place to place looking for interesting sights. We saw lots of Bison (up close and pretty personal), a number of grizzly bears and two wolf packs in their natural habitat, deer, elk, coyotes, a large number of raptors and water fowl. At each location Kevin would have us glass the area with excellent quality binoculars and then if animals were found he would set up a spotting scope for each one of us for a more intimate view. Wow, it was great. We are already planning a spring trip when all the new birth animals and wild flowers will be out. The other two things that we appreciated was that Kevin was not hesitant about getting us out at first light. Of course, that is when you are going to see the most animals. We also did not waste time waiting in line at restaurants for breakfast and lunch. Kevin provided great "trail meals" that we ate on the sites while we were looking for the animals. So, if you want to sleep late and have 3 course sit-down meals, go to Disney instead. No question that the TSS has got their act together. I hope that we can get our grand children out there to learn about the Yellowstone ecosystem. There are not enough superlatives to...
Read moreFirst, the poor manners of the guide who, when giving us "breakfast", left us 2 hard bacon sandwiches with nothing to drink, not even a juice or a coffee, and then disappeared for 40 minutes. At lunch time, with the car in motion, He gave us 2 frozen sandwiches with a soda and no napkins.I am attaching photos so you can see the state of our "lunch", and we finished the tour at 4:30pm and not at 6:30pm as scheduled. We only went to two places, one to see a mudhole with bubbles and the other to see a geyser, and then we came back. That was the entire tour. I am attaching photos of the food and the only 2 places we visited in the few hours of the tour, which was a tour until 6:30pm and ended at 4:30pm. We expect a refund of the decent "lunch" that we expected for the $1400 we paid and the discount for the 2-hour tour, not to mention the time lost changing cars and the poor treatment received and the unconfortable of the cars, the sits we colud'nt reclined and we have problems with the back, that the reason we paid that amount to have someting confortable and they said that we want to finish the tour before and a lot of lies, comes from the bad Guide Mike. So disapointed with these company, we enjoy the others tours company who where much cheaper and much better like Teaton National Park and snow...
Read moreBobby is the best tour guide ever! Five of us took a private sunrise wildlife tour starting at 6am. Bobby took us north out of Jackson where we spotted and learned about all kinds of wildlife and nature - bison, pronghorn, coyote, wolf, hawks, ravens, aspen, cottonwood, and even two badgers! One of my favorite facts was about the way aspens reproduce - the seeds they produce are very unlikely to fall in the right conditions to sprout, so they mostly reproduce by pushing up new trees through their root systems! 😲
Bobby is incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He easily answered all of our questions and kept us comfortable with snacks and drinks throughout the tour. In addition, he shared insightful personal perspectives about the environment and the way we see the world around us. I want to learn...
