Our group of 4 was very excited to go golfing on a golf course for the first time. We called the pro shop a week in advance to ask questions about booking, what’s included in the price, if we can rent clubs (yes we could). So we finished booking online. The day came for us to go golfing. We were all very excited. When we arrived we went to the pro shop to check in where an older gentleman and a lady were working. We walked up to the older gentleman to check in and eventually split our group between the lady and the older gentleman to pay separately. The older gentleman completely ruined the experience for us when he found out this was our first time. He seriously said “Are you sure you want to play golf there’s REAL golfers out there and REAL golfers playing behind you.” The woman seemed to over hear this comment and started to take over the sale at this point. We continue on to check out and older gentleman got upset/flustered that we did not have our own golf clubs. To which we said “we called and asked if you all have rental clubs and we were told yes.” The older gentleman was speaking rudely about it to the lady but she kind was replying saying it’s no problem and grabbed the bags. Finally he stopped talking at the point in the sale and the lady finished up giving us directions, pointers, and good golf etiquette. I’m very disappointed by the professionalism of this man, working a customer service job. I also believe he is the one we spoke with on the phone that answered all of our questions before booking. We’ve been to driving ranges, we did our research, we knew to let people play through if needed and how much time we should allow for each hole. Where else are we supposed to play a round of golf? To think this man was actually trying to...
Read morePlayed on 9-10. The pro's: It is affordable to play; The greens are among the best in the triad. VERY fast and roll true - great job there; Also, the people in the pro shop are all very friendly. The Con's: The tees are what you'd expect from a muni - shaggy. The biggest problem at this course, however, is the lack of decent grass on the fairways. You have a mixture of weeds, bare spots, and sparse bermuda, when you can find it. Makes it especially hard on a course with so many sloped lies. I often had to move my ball 10-15 feet to find any kind of grass to hit off of. I don't fault the superintendent. This is obviously budget mismanagement from the town. They decided to spend money building new restrooms on the course instead. This was a priority? The town also spent a fortune on a new club house a few years back, which is large and very nice. However, there is no grill for food in use. I'm told they could no longer afford to pay a cook. This has to be the only public 18 hole course in the state where you can't get a hot dog. Finally, they recently switched the nine's. The back 9 is now the front nine, so you're starting on two of the toughest holes on the course. Prepare for a very slow round. In fact, the sign in the cart asks that you try to complete your round in 4 hours 20 minutes. Yikes. Good luck with that. Ours took almost 5 hours with people in front NOT playing "ready golf". Like most courses, rangers are non-existent, or do nothing to speed up play. I give it 3 stars for the cost, the nice people that work there, and the excellent greens, though they're tough to hold when hitting off of bare lies or weeds on sloped fairways. Really hope the town takes these...
Read moreWhen called for a tee time asked if me and my son could play by ourselves was told yes by a lady. When we arrived we were paired with two other people we did not even know we told the guy it was supposed to be just me and him he said we had to play in groups because they were so busy. So we played the front nine and we stopped at the club house to get food and drinks one of the players left after playing 9 holes the other went on when we were done eating which was about 10 minutes of time was told we had to go back to the first tee because the course was moving along and we could not play the back nine. I then went to the club house and spoke with the lady and she said they had to keep everything moving along which I understand but I’ve played several golf courses from here to Myrtle Beach and you are allowed to stop and break but not this one. Also not to mention the lady cooking the food at the club house with no mask no gloves and treated the group in front of us who got 3 beers was not a pleasant people person either COVID where gloves at least lady so what started as a great day playing golf with my son turned into a joke of a golf course never I repeat never play this course if you are that busy don’t over...
