This was an Epic Adventure for Sure! Authentic, exciting, and the beautiful of the swamp was next to none.
My friend and I booked the small Airboat tour off the square and saved a little by driving ourselves instead of the transport that they offer. When we arrived there was plenty of free parking. Their office had merchandise, snacks, & rain ponchos.
We left on boat #2 with Captain Steve. He is a born and raised swamp guide. He was very polite, humorous, & knowledgeable. We got on the water a little after 2pm. It was just rained & everything had cooled off from the July heat. While we were trolling past the dock we saw an alligator. Then in was onward to open waters as Capt. Steve took us out far enough to see the skyline of New Orleans. After that we went to out first cove and the alligators came a swimming. They were very photogenic. A couple adolescents even had a quarrel over who was getting a treat. Onward we went seeing majestic spiderwebs and the creators in the center, smaller gators to the sides, frogs, & cranes. You couldn't have asked for better views. There were grand cypress trees with hanging moss, cypress knees, & wild flowers. Then Capt. Steve thought of the perfect place to take us & it paid off! A Big Alligator in a cove. He swam up gracefully awaiting a snack. Capt. Steve was happy to be of service. It was a sight to see. The confidence and safety was unmatched. We got Amazing photos! I'd definitely reccomend to anyone and ask for...
Read moreLook elsewhere is all I'd say after wasting my afternoon and money here. 1st off It was cool this day and I didn't expect to see gators. But this outfit has 90 seat boats. It doesn't fit anywhere cool. The Captain was impossible to hear over the airboats from the same outfit going by when he did talk. Even then there was very little info given about the area and fauna at all. This is not a swamp tour but more of a nice boat ride near the intercoastal. I have been on 2 other really fun informative tours on previous trips and I found this one lacking all around. Overall this was my only New Orleans...
Read moreThe actual boat ride was SO fun. Captain EJ on top I love him 🥰 However, I have a bone to pick with the alligators living situation; the "albino alligator that they advertise is NOT in a suitable environment whatsoever. She is confined to a corner of the shop with zero stimulation and provided with only some water and a slab of concrete. I would understand the tiny enclosure if it was a small animal that was able to thrive there, but this is an actual alligator. And I totally get that she wouldn’t survive out in the wild like at all, but her living environments should be at least a little bit...
