Johnson is a quaint walkable town; VSC comprises most of it. Easy to get a lot of work done here as everything slowwwwwsssss dowwwwwnnnnn. Facilities are well maintained; linen service, and meals are provided so you can really hunker down on your work during your stay, yet nightly readings, open studios, and artist talks keep you from being isolated. But beware if you're there with pretentious youngins or those who believe their work peerless or those using the opportunity as vacation--there were a good number of each during my stay. I photograph the gardens, river and falls, the bird life and other interesting subjects. I also have gone to the Open Studios held by resident artists, and have enjoyed them immensely.
