After reading some of the other reviews, I don't know if I stepped into a different universe, but I have no idea how you could have enjoyed that food. Maybe you need to buy the food that costs extra? That food was HORRIFIC—prison grade. I would have enjoyed it more if they hadn't bothered serving food at all; it was that bad.
I ordered the pork chop at the server's recommendation. It was very dry, and they didn’t cook the apples into a glaze. They literally took some cheap applesauce and poured it on top. Should have just had the applesauce on the side. The corn wasn’t even canned corn quality, and the potatoes tasted like something you'd get from a school cafeteria. The kids ordered the chicken strips, and I honestly have never tried anything that bad in my life (and I've eaten cat food on a dare before). They were cold and wet—clearly frozen and not cooked all the way through. Their house salad was at least normal. If I had to go again, I’d stick with the salad. All I can say is: don’t get the pork chops or chicken tenders. Yikes.
Another aspect I did not enjoy was how pressured we were by our server to buy extras. I had to tell him three times, in three different ways, that we didn’t want dessert. He was very nice and funny, so I can only assume they are either paid on commission or forced to upsell. He felt like a used car salesman. It left a bad taste in my mouth before I even had to endure the bad taste of their food.
That said, the reason I didn’t give them one star is because the show was EXCELLENT. The acting was wonderful. The music was wonderful. The set was wonderful. Absolutely brilliant. We went to their Scrooge musical, and really, really, really enjoyed it. By the end of the night, I was smiling again. I will probably go again despite the food—that’s how good the show was. I’ll just tell them not to bother bringing out their frozen, Hungry-Man meal.
If by some chance they are reading this, do yourselves a favor and change the menu to something simpler that can be executed well. You aren't doing yourselves any favors by serving meals that fall short. There has to be simpler, affordable meals that are easier to execute. In the meantime, you could make some good money serving that food to the Larimer County prison system. Or maybe get yourselves on a Hells Kitchen episode, they can get you turned around. It would be worth the effort, because the play...
Read moreThis was such a fun family outing! If you have not been here, I highly recommend you go support this amazing theater. You get a delicious meal served to you by the actors and actresses then get to watch these amazingly talented people sing, dance, and act out the show. So much talent at Johnstown Corner... who knew!? We watched Shrek the Musical and wow, it was so well done! The stage and props were well thought out and effective in creating the scene. The cast was amazing, all of them "triple threats" (acting, singing and dancing). You can tell the hours they put into rehearsing. The sound was so well done, I could barely tell visually that they were miked and was surprised to learn that they were, it just sounded so natural. The lighting was on point. The costumes were very wil done. Um, Lord Farquaad was hilarious, I couldn't stop smiling and laughing out loud every time I looked at him! The dragon and how they creatively figured out how to play her was simply genius. The dancing and choreography was so well done. And the live music was a treat to my ears. The makeup and costumes were also very realistic and well done. The Donkey, Shrek and Fiona all looked amazing! There was so much thought and time put into this production, it showed! And of course you cannot have an amazing show without an amazing directing and production team. Bravo all! Again if you have not been here, go treat yourself and family to dinner and a show. It was a long afternoon, so prepare for about 3 to 4 hours, only because they do not want to rush through lunch. It was so awesome, we...
Read moreA group of 5 of us attended a showing of Anastasia this previous weekend and had an exceptional time.
The venue is a little bit out in the middle of nowhere (near the new Bucc-ee's) But that means that there is plenty of parking. We arrived about 15 min early and stood in line for approximately 5 min before we were able to be seated. Only half of our group arrived early, but it was very easy to check in and have the other half of the group check in under the last name of the reservation.
The tables were all situated with a great view of the stage and had very comfortable cushioned seats. Salads were already out at the tables when we sat and our waiter was very attentive the entire night. (Thank you Ryne!)
Dinner is served first and your ticket includes the salad and a main. Drinks and dessert are extra, but we definitely splurged and got both. Food was really yummy. The table got pretty much one of everything on the menu to try and everyone cleaned their plates. I especially enjoyed the stroganoff and the bread pudding!
The show itself was incredible. All of the actors did an amazing job. Singing was top notch, acting was really fun. I love the life they breathed into some of the characters. The live orchestra was absolutely incredible. I would rave all night about the performance. It was really magical.
Overall we had just such a special time. I would 10000% recommend a night out here to anyone. We will...
