Order a steak did not want the bleu cheese said absolutely no bleu cheese on it please. Came back with the bleu cheese on it. They had me start on mash potatoes as they were cooking me a new one. By the time the new one came out I was completely full as the potatoes had set in my belly.. I ate 1/4 of the potatoes. Did not take my husband's food but let him eat without me and was done eating before I got my steak.. I did not eat anything really with him but a salad as an appetizer. Why didn't they ask to take his plate to the warmer so we could eat together? Why did she attempt to give me that steak not how I wanted it as she had said before setting down infront of me it was wrong. Can I eat it anyways? Then because I had a meal I wasn't able to eat with my husband infront of me I asked for the ticket and please don't start the hamburger to go as I have a meal for the family member not able to join us.. it took over 20 minutes waiting for our ticket to leave.. very very bad experience and the really only restaurant close to home. We will NOT be going back. We will take the drive somewhere else. BTW the mash potatoes are wonderful, salad had alot of water in it and way too much cabage.. i don't know how anything else was as I never got to eat it. I begged my husband to eat when he got his food so it wouldn't have been cold waiting on my food to finally get to me. While I was waiting for my food though I did manage to watch the manager yell at the busboys to clean tables as they were slow.. the busboys that is. I looked around and not one table ( that didn't have people sitting at it) wasn't cleaned. They were cleaned and ready for the line of people at the door. One even asked what tables needs to be cleaned. The manager just walked away. Glad I got a show while I waited. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! VERY VERY disappointed for my once a month dinner date with the husband. Upon further investigation when we got home we paid for the hamburger and fries we never recieve we were told was taken off the bill.. where's the refund or food I paid for? Over half the restaurant had empty tables. Over half. Why were these people waiting h for a table? We were sitting next to an elderly couple and their daughter. The young man had asked for some desert. Everything he had asked for was noy available. He settled on ice cream. My husband, who enjoys his sweets, I said don't even think about it as they don't have any of...
Read moreThe trainers (corporate managers)need to just go home. They're doing nothing but standing in the middle of the restaurant talking to each other, while all their new staff is either drowning or lost. They stood over my husband and I having a meeting while we were eating. Other group next to us asked to be moved. Very rude of management.
I was asked no less then 5 times if I wanted coffee refilled, and about the same amount of times if I wanted a to-go box. I know this is because they're over staffed and the hosts aren't doing a good job seating people. They're bunching every customer in one or two sections which leaves the other servers with nothing to do. They need to be trained on how to seat a restaurant for smoother operations. The cashiers also need training and should know the POS system inside and out, they were having difficulties and I even heard one cashier ask a trainer for help because something was wrong and they couldn't figure out. The trainers corporate sent to this restaurant are failing this restaurant. They have great staff but aren't teaching them anything, hence the bad reviews. DO BETTER BLACK BEAR CORPORATE.
UPDATE!
We've been back...and it's just as bad. The time to get our food from the time we sat and order was taken was ONE HOUR! I felt bad for our waitress. 2 other tables left after putting in their order. This restaurant isn't going to survive. Which is unfortunate. It is a good restaurant but they hired cooks who can't handle the pressure. The management needs to be changed as well. Especially the front end manager...I think her name is Amber. She ran Johnsons corner into the ground and is now doing the same to this restaurant. She's terrible.
Father's day wait time was 2 hours total, one for a table then 1 for your food. Absolute bullshit at this point. They brought corporate back and they are useless. I think his name is Jason....he doesn't know how to train a kitchen. I emailed corporate as asked but no response.
I'll add this restaurant is owned by the Petro gas station. Which...
Read moreYes, I I was a frequent customer of Johnson's corner but with all that aside I was giving this place an open invitation into my circle of restaurants. Couple things are seriously wrong. They let people stand waiting for a table way too long when there are absolutely are tables available. They're disorganized and the wait staff is not when we got the food my son ordered biscuits and gravy breakfast and so did my partner. My sons came out looking lovely. Although the gravy is way too short for the amount of bread served on the plate. My partner's play came out horrible and I'm not just saying maybe a little shy and gravy or one biscuit was a little overcooked. I mean both biscuits were hard like they pulled them out of the back of the walk-in freezer and the gravy was shoddy. His eggs were hard. Maybe the dish sat for an extended period of time under a heat lamp. They did accommodate us with a new plate but that's after everybody else had finished their meal and the waitress was confused about what should be done. We had to get a manager. This was not something she initiated. We had to do it. I think they have the ability to be a good restaurant but it doesn't. Do anybody any good to have fluffy biscuits with a short amount of gravy and your food is dry? Nobody wants to be served hard fried eggs unless they specifically asked for it. Most people don't want their hot sauce and they should offer others. They need to be more organized in the restaurant and see people quickly owe and check them out quickly. The line for the cash register was ridiculous. They need an efficiency manager ASAP. I will give them another chance. I will wait a month. Hopefully they will read this and make improvements. I will not take any more clients or friends or my partner here until they improve their situation. I wish I would have taken a picture of the two different plates so you could see the gross difference...
