Glacier Cinemas — Local services in Juneau

I had another wonderful experience at Glacier Cinemas and would recommend their establishment to anyone, local or tourist, young or old. I purchased my tickets on the same day of the show directly through their website which was quick, simple and very efficient. The inside was clean and appealing. The employees were professional, respectful, competent, helpful and knowledgeable. The concession stand offered the usual movie theater fare you would expect to see like popcorn, candy, cold drinks, yummy candy, nachos, slushes, and all within range of what you would expect to pay. Their website conveniently offers a concession menu so you can figure out ahead of time what you might want.

** They do not accept cash at this time (only CC, Debit cards, gift cards) but do provide the option to purchase seats online. Once purchase is complete you're immediately sent a confirmation email which will include a barcode for the box office to scan upon arrival for the show. You can choose to print out the email but it isn't necessary since the barcode is scanable directly from your device. You may also purchase a gift card online however it is NOT a digital gift card and so can only be used once the card physically arrives in the mail. If you live locally I wouldn't expect there to be too much of a wait time before receiving it but it just depends. I'm sure (but not positive) you could purchase one physically at the theater . Either way they are reloadable and a great way for kids to have the opportunity to purchase concessions without having a bank card or their parents there.

To be honest about the actual experience during a movie, it's about a 2.0. Being a long time Juneau-ite, I stretch that to a 3 star because I understand why the theater is the way it is. Being that Juneau lacks options for movie goers, we have no choice but to endure the squeaking chairs, absurdly loud speaker system lacking the quality of true surround sound that is offered in theaters around the US, and the inability to view the movie if someone taller then yourself sits infront of you, or to have someone behind you ask you to scrunch down in your seat so they can see passed you. 🙄 Being that the theater is very old, I give it 3 stars because all things considered, it could be worse. The entire theater needs an overhaul to offer the community a truly great experience. Good to have a 5 screen theater. Everything is expensive, everywhere you go these days. If you don't like it, wait for it to come out on DVD or Blu-ray. I love watching the big screen and the company. If you went to the bar instead you'd spend way more than you would at the theater. You can always get movie card at Costco and save 5 dollars too. 20 dollars for à 25 dollar card. Helps when you take the kids to Disney Movies. So if you bought 2 cards for 40 bucks you get 50 dollars to spend at the movies. Good deal and ways to save some hard earned money.
