The midwives at the Juneau Birth Center are kind, compassionate, and skilled! I've birthed two babies (one in 2017 and the other in 2020) and the Birth Center provided excellent prenatal care to us during both pregnancies. My first child was born in the hospital due to preeclampsia in the last weeks, but my 2nd child was thankfully born in the Birth Center. Having had both types of births, I can say that the Birth Center offers superior care and their focus is on the comfort, safety, and wishes of the mother! My birth experience at the Center was calm, natural, and surrounded with love and the competent hands of the midwives! Not for one minute did I feel they were not prepared to handle whatever came our way. The birthing rooms are designed to allow the utmost comfort and flexibility to a birthing mother, but it was the compassionate and attentive care of the midwives that made the entire difference for me. During my pregnancies and postpartum, the midwives are readily accessible. The much-needed and vulnerable postpartum period was where the frequent and encouraging support of the midwives really shone through for me. The first days and weeks after baby are the roughest, and having their home visits made the whole difference for how confident we felt to get through it! I can't say enough good things, thank you JBC for being our partners and providers to bring two sweet babies...

I wish that all health care was like the care we recieved through the birth center. The midwives' knowledgeable, wholistic approach was amazing. Appointments were often over an hour, as the midwife answered all my questions and checked in about both physical and emotional health. As a rural resident, the birth center worked to make tele-appointments easy, working around our schedules and even lending medical equipment for us to take home.

I couldn't have asked for a better birth experience: the calm atmosphere and supportive coaching was incredible. I felt strong and empowered. And then, to continue to receive care on day one, three and five of postpartum meant that we had the breastfeeding and new-parent support we needed. Juneau Family Birth Center has been such a special and meaningful part of my first pregnancy. From the very first visit, I felt prioritized, safe, and truly heard. Every question I had was answered with care, and any anxieties I brought in were met with validation and knowledge, leaving me feeling empowered instead of overwhelmed.
