Carpenter Bees and Bats!
Because of our annual springtime battle with Carpenter bees, on May 20, 2024 Griffin Tech Gage Smith arrived at our residence, on time as requested through Hilary Martini in the Call Center department. For a second time this year, we ordered our pest control team to execute a second Counter-Attack Offensive one month after the first. The missionā¦.āTo reduce or eliminate the construction of these Machine Gun-like 38 caliber-size tunnels the bees create each year.ā If the bees are not stopped, their tunnels are not only an eyesore, but they become filled with Carpenter bee larva (eggs). These growing young bees make vibrations that our nearby Wood Peckers will soon find, creating an even larger damage problem as they peck to reach the growing baby-bee food supply inside.
Griffin Pest Solutionās āGold Planā has been taking care of our log home insect problems for several years now. Overall, the company has done a good job.
However, it takes more than a good job for me to write a review. It takes an outstanding job!
Not only did Gage spray insecticide in an attempt to reduce the construction of new bee condominiums and efficiency apartments, he also spent a lot of time applying Delta Dust to these under-construction deluxe bee-apartments. In this aspect, he did a very good job. The only reason he did not do an outstanding job, is because his dusting equipment could not reach the highest limits of our two-story house. Not his fault. Something to think about in an attempt to earn an additional outstanding-rated reviews. Many of our visiting bees choose to swarm up in the highest corners of our two-story home. Flight-level (up high) dusting equipment can improve this service.
With Gageās dusting service, he was close to earning a review. But, as impressed as I was with his science knowledge about insects, I turned the conversation to our other problem, Bats! I showed him were they like to roost on the sunny side of our stone chimney. He explained to me that the bats enjoy roosting on the sun-warmed stone at night. He also shared with me why my shielding device at the top of the chimney was not as effective as it could be. Gage told me how bats can land and crawl up some distance to get to the roosting spot. At his suggestion, I extended my light-duty aluminum expanded mesh several more feet down the the chimney. This technique has come very close to eliminating the bat feces problem we have every morning outside our porch door. This attention to detail and superior service has earned Gage Smith and his company this five-star outstanding review, along with our appreciation. āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø

8/2024 update: Iām changing my review from 5 stars to 2 stars⦠That is a dramatic drop! The only reason why there are still two stars and not one is because the service tech that we have is a great person and a great technician however, customer service department is absolutely horrible. We cannot get a hold of anyone when needed. The contract prices change without notice and when I try to call someone about it the phone number that was provided the person said someone would call us back within 24-48 hours and never did. This company has gone downhill since a few members have left. It is no longer the reputable company that it once was. We are seeking our services elsewhere after being with the company for so long it is sad to see the decline.
7/16/25 update: Iām changing my review from two stars to one This is the second year in a row where weāve had a service tech not show up and a call Center representative be very rude. Weāve given this place a lot of opportunity to win us back as customers. Weāve had a great service tech this entire time and we feel really bad for him because itās not his fault. However, the customer service the Management and the ownership of Griffin Pest solutions has gone downhill significantly. They outsource their staff. Their staff is rude. Their staff changes prices without renegotiating contracts were looking at contracts. They send out different techs but they donāt send notifications to show schedule changes and this is our last straw so anybody reading this review please take a look at the rapid decline of the progression of when I sent the initial post of five stars to the update last year when Iāve changed it to two stars to now one star this place is now considered not a good service anymore due to the customer service and ownership of Griffin...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ended up having to go with another pest company due to the fact that nobody from Griffin returned my call. I have had the Gold plan with them for over a year. I decided that I wanted to cancel, but there was no way to contact them in person, so I left a voicemail. I asked to have confirmation that it had been canceled. I heard nothing. I got no email, no text, no phone call back. Ok. Well, about 3 weeks later I noticed some ants and sent a message via website to have someone come. They sent me an email stating the charges of initial fees and start up account. WHAT? So I called them. They claimed I spoke to someone 3 weeks ago and canceled my account. I informed them I spoke to not one person, I left a message, but never got any confirmation that my account was canceled, so I figured it wasn't canceled. They insisted that I spoke to someone on the phone. I look back at my calls on my phone and not one of the calls lasted more than a minute. How could I have called their number, selected to speak to someone through their tele prompter and then actually speak to someone to go through the process of canceling in less than a minute? SO a manager was to call me back. They never did. I call back later that day and was informed they have 24 to 48 hours to contact me. REALLY? I have yet to receive a call. I'm sure I PROBABLY could have had this issue resolved through them, but this lack of professionalism and lack of attitude in helping me caused me to say forget them and go somewhere else.
