Great Southwest Equestrian Center — Local services in Katy

This is a very nice facility and we are lucky to have something so close to Houston for shows. If you are a visitor to he horse show, it is easy to find your way around and everything is close enough that you can walk from arena to arena and see all of that action. As a rider I appreciate all of the schooling rings and areas to work your horse. That said, they really need to do something about their trailer parking. It is far away from the stalls. The way it is set up, it's impossible to actually trailer in for the day which forces you to get a stall. A stall which you are required to fill with their shavings @ $12 a bag. A bit of a rip off especially because you can buy them for under $6 at the local feed store. Showing is already expensive and but I feel like I hemorrhage...

This used to be a first class horse show event center. The barn that we use for our shows are filthy. One of my stalls still had horse manure in it when I arrived. The electricity outlets are on the same poles where the water faucets are, thus probably not up to code with respect to how far water has to be from an electrical outlet. Half of the outlets either don't work or they trip - they are not GFI outlets, which makes it even more dangerous. The barn also has zero ventilation. The ceilings are low, there are no fans, even in the arena and no breeze blows through the barn / stalls areas. I really hope we can find another venue because this one sucks and i probably won't go...

Great place! Our first time here and I have to say what an amazing place. This place is a well kept secret tucked right in Katy. Plenty of space and restrooms. Even have a coffee shop and restaurant onsite. We didn’t eat at the restaurant but the coffee shop was good. Can’t say enough about how well this equestrian center is run. We were stopped by someone to take our temperature before entering the location. They follow the Covid rules very well. Even had a staff member telling people to put their masks on when they spotted someone not wearing one. Can’t say how thankful I am for them looking out not only for the safely of the riders but...
