Here’s my advice if you’re driving the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Stay to the right. Trust me. You don’t want to end up on the left side where there’s two-way traffic. That lane is a whole different level of stress.
Do not get behind a trailer, someone hauling a boat, or a jet ski. It’ll only make the drive feel ten times longer. And please, for the love of all things calm, stop changing lanes on the bridge. Just focus on getting across safely.
If you’re the passenger, enjoy the view. The scenery really is beautiful. But if you’re the driver, you might be like me, gripping the wheel and white-knuckling it the whole way across. You’ve got this… just breathe...

It's hard to describe how it feels to be out in the midst of all that water no land in sight and you're not on a boat, driving. There are a few places where you can pull over and take in that breathtaking site of ships and boats, and the birds of the seas. Over 20 miles of waves splashing beneath you. Read moreThe amount of people that are confusing this bridge with the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel is concerning; they are on complete opposite ends of the bay, in entirely different state. And I've never been near either of these bridges/bridge-tunnels, not to mention living on the west coast.
But they do look like very nice bridges and tunnels and would love to experience driving over/through them.
