I generally don’t like to leave bad reviews seeing as how it’s much more likely for a customer to go out of their way to complain rather than give a pat on the back, but unfortunately in this case I believe it’s warranted... The whole experience was bad from the beginning. We were staying as guests of a wedding that was held on the premises. We made the reservations a couple of months in advance, and assuming the inn offered a standard 3 o’clockish check in time we immediately began requesting early check in so we could be ready for the 5 o’clock wedding. Calling periodically prior to our stay, we were repeatedly told to call back closer to the date of our stay to confirm early check in but that there wouldn’t be any issues. We called again the day of the stay and were told to come on down there shouldn’t be any issues checking in. When we arrived we were told they would call us if our room became available and that they were hosting 2 weddings that day so rooms were not available for early check in yet. We were also informed that their check in time is later than any other I’ve heard of and that our check in was at 4. So now they are hosting a wedding at 5 pm while also offering the room to the guests at 4 pm. They graciously checked us in about 10 minutes early. Our friends who were getting married had so much to deal with you wouldn’t expect them to check into that but you’d think the company offering the rooms and hosting the wedding would make some sort of accommodations to their guests but instead the front office employees were very rude and in no way helpful. After the wedding we all returned to the hotel and hung out by the fire pit or in our rooms. We were generally having a good time. We were in no way destructive and did not misbehave in anyway but I could definitely assume we were not the quietest group. At one point I received a call from the desk asking us to keep it down a bit and so we did and we had no more issues. We then received a unexpected $200 fee on our bill. Absolutely absurd. At first we had no idea what the fee was so the couple we roomed with called the inn and asked them about it. They were given completely inaccurate information about the events of the evening so I followed up with another phone call and spoke with Lauren. It was interesting listening to her try to blatantly lie about the events and then try to back pedal once we were able to correct her. Then I listened as she tried to come up with a story to fit the fees that we had been charged. After speaking with her for a few minutes and her facts not adding up at all, she then stated that she wasn’t even working that night so she actually had no idea what had happened. She was literally just making up lies as we spoke to make the illegitimate charges seem valid. To be honest I have either attended or been in a few weddings at this location and it was never anything special but the actual wedding went smoothly every time. Unfortunately, the ridiculously over priced inn, with rooms no different from your standard motel 6, couldn’t live up to the same mediocre standards as the event staff. I am currently reviewing my options and will decide in which manor to move forward with having these ridiculous...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at The Inn at CBBC in early November 2021 for our daughter’s wedding. We stayed in the cottages and were very happy with the outstanding service provided by every member of the staff throughout our entire stay. It is truly a special place.
Our guests have also raved about what outstanding service they received there. The rooms were all meticulously clean and beautifully appointed. The grounds were impeccably maintained and we all enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs around the fire pit -- we were especially appreciative of the blankets which were draped over the rocking chairs - it was quite chilly on the weekend we were there (just another example of how the folks at The Inn at CBBC think of every little detail). One additional example that stands out is when my niece, who is 7 months pregnant, went downstairs for a snack at The Market only to realize it was closed -- the person at the front desk asked if she could help and my niece said that she was just looking for a snack - at which point they actually re-opened The Market for her.
One minor drawback was that we were limited to how many rooms we could reserve - we wish we could have reserved double the amount allocated, but understandably, they had to allocate rooms to the other events that were being held at the property on the same weekend.
As for the food, it’s farm to table - sourced by local farmers and waterman. There is a chef’s garden on site, which the chefs use in season. On Sunday morning, we hosted a brunch in the courtyard and adjoining ballroom, which was open to the outside (very much appreciated in the current COVID environment). We thought it would be a standard, hotel-type brunch, but once again, the staff exceeded our expectations. The brunch was incredible - everything was house made and freshly prepared, tasted delicious, and was beautifully presented! The staff working the brunch were all very friendly and professional.
I’ve worked closely with C-level executives and boards of directors for a few decades and have attended meetings at many luxurious properties. The level of service we experienced during our stay at The Inn at CBBC ranks up there with services provided at some of the finest properties in the world - no exaggeration. While The Inn at CBBC is great for wedding guests, I also highly recommend it as a venue for board retreats or off-site strategy meetings where people need to get away from the everyday working environment. The Inn at CBBC will impress even the most discerning critics.
Book your stay at The Inn at CBBC and plan on friendly, courteous, and professional staff…you should also plan on hearing compliments from your guests about how great your event was! The staff at The Inn at CBBC created such a memorable weekend for us and for all our guests - they went above and beyond standard expectations for outstanding service and we very much...
Read moreI really wanted to write a review for the Inn at the Chesapeake Bay because my experience was phenomenal.
Breaking down this review, I have it set up into 5 areas. Customer service: Michelle (Guest Services Manager) was amazing! She helped me plan a proposal for my long-time girlfriend at the Inn. I had done research into the location but I had never stepped foot on their grounds. I was invested in the cottages and so I was forwarded to Michelle. She gave me an idea of how elegantly designed the cottages were and also gave me proposal ideas for different areas within the Inn, should I want more options. She jumped on a call with me and we chatted back and forth via email as the idea to propose at the Inn became solidified after our call. She was responsive and attentive throughout the entire process! Now, when it comes to the rest of the staff like the front desk and the Knoxie restaurant host. They were also fantastic! They were kind, very welcoming and were so incredibly attentive. I cannot stress how important this was to me! 100 out of 10
Resort aesthetics: Was here during the holidays, December specifically, and it was beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations. 10 out of 10
Cleanliness: We stayed in the cottages and it was spotless. Clean sheets, clean bathroom. Nothing was amiss. It literally looked like the pictures when you step into the room. 10 out of 10
Amenities: They have a ton of them! They have a spa, classy restaurant, coffee bar, and shopping area for little knick-knacks. The courtyard is also gorgeous. I think there are games out there but I didn't get the chance to fully enjoy them. They also have a massive fire pit. The gym is a little left to be desired. Don't expect a crazy workout, but I doubt that is a top priority for most folks. LOL 10 out of 10
The room itself: I can only speak for the cottages but they were gorgeous. It literally looks like the pictures that they have on their website and that's so rare. 10 out of 10
Would I stay here again? In a heartbeat! It's a great venue for a wedding, proposal, or any sort of big celebration. If you just want a room for you and your SO, it gives off a very aesthetically pleasing and calm...
