Johns Island Ace — Local services in Kiawah Island

My boyfriend spends thousands of dollars in this store as he is in the construction industry and asked me to do a very simple return on an unopened unused item with receipt. I went into the store and went into a line with the light on and no one in line, the woman barely looked at me and very dramatically told me that she could not assist me as she was working on something else. I went to the other line and handed the lady my receipt and the item, after almost nearing the end of processing the return she told me, in a rude way, that she could not process this as this was from “all the way back in December,” which was only a few months ago, and offered me no other options, such as a gift card or exchange for other merchandise. They still have this item in stock.

I went to the next nearest Ace Hardware store down the street, was greeted by friendly employees upon entry, asked if I needed help, the store was in much better condition, and they had absolutely no problem exchanging the item purchased at another Ace Hardware for a few other items from their store. I even spent extra money in there.

I will not be back in to the John’s Island Ace...

Spent 180 on three gallons of Benjamin Moore paint which I expected. What I didn't expect was for them to Mix the wrong color and when my husband noticed it instead of mixing a whole new gallon they made it seem like they could just mix in the new color and it would be fine. When I went back into the store with the paint because I wanted to double check the paint color the old man mixing the paint treated me and my husband like idiots. Lied to me about switching the cans out and basically called my husband slow and that something "wasn't clicking". He is an engineer by the way. We will never return...

Everybody here is very polite they know what they're doing, there never seems to be a project they can't figure out some type of solution, and I also want to add that I am a very frequent Shopper at this store because of the simple fact that they usually have always the materials the paint and everything else that my boss and I need to finish or even start a job. They seem to be very knowledgeable in their paints, Staines, urethanes, and all the above. You can always count on this Ace to be your place!!
