I am over 75 and a year or two ago Herring Heating and Air were doing my semi annual heating and a/c check ups. During the last maintenance call, they sold me a UV light to kill bacteria and mold that I had been seeing on my a/c filter. The UV light system was very expensive at $900. I almost feel as I was defrauded when they installed the UV light in the system because the technician installed it in a different location than he and I had discussed it being installed for the intended purpose of killing mold/bacteria on the COIL on the interior part of my split a/c system. The tech and I discussed and he showed me pictures of bacteria growing on a COIL, similar to what could be growing on the coil on the inside of my split system. He said he had something that "would take care of that". He explained about a UV light and I said okay. He then installed a UV light in the RETURN DUCT - but I could see that putting it in a return duct does nothing to kill bacteria/mold ON THE COIL because the light does not shine on the coil when installed in the return duct. When I objected I was told "but it does help because it kills bacteria in the air in the duct." I told him I did not buy it to kill bacteria in the air, but rather on the coil. The technician (George) assured me he would take care of any problem I had with this installation and that they "like to keep their customers happy"; however in the days after George left, he did not answer my phone calls or texts, nor did I hear anything from Herring. I called the company and Wendy Herring returned my call and her solution was she would send a technician to come and take the light out of the return duct - to which I said no because the integrity and insulation of the duct had already been cut into. George, the technician, had cut a 6" square hole thru the outer duct and also the insulation between the interior metal duct and then a 6" hole in the interior metal ducting. Removing the light would not fix anything but slap a piece of metal over the hole in the duct. Wendy said she was going to be unavailable for a week or two (family issues) but she never contacted me again, nor did she respond to my further attempt to contact her. I would have accepted the situation had Herring offered a substantial discount for the UV light (which was installed where it did not do what I had purchased it to do)., but they offered no accommodation other than to remove the light and leave my insulation removed and patched up duct holes. Because of the cost of running the light 24/7 and the fact it is not shining on the coil, it remains unplugged and unused and I feel I was taken for $900 for something that does not do what I paid for it to do. $900 is a lot of money to pay for something to be done that was not done as agreed upon. I am done with Herring and will never trust them again. I have tried twice to add 3 photos but I don't know if they posted - I see one picture - and I what posted is a picture of my installation of the light - notice the black square that says APCO on the return duct on upper left side of the picture. The coil where it was to be installed is actually to the right under the black hose below where it says Armstrong Air. The second and third pictures show a couple places where I thought the light would be installed so the UV light would reach the bacteria on the coil killing the bacteria.

We have been Herring Heating & Air Conditioning customers for 15+ years. Our 1st system was installed in 2006, a second in 2016. We continue to be completely satisfied with Herring, its technicians, the TRANE units, and the reliable, dependable and trustworthy service. We purchase a Maintenance Agreement each year and receive Spring and Fall maintenance. We purchase a Filter at the same time. On April 4, 2023, Andrew S. arrived to prepare our equipment for the summer season. Andrew was thorough and evaluated the well-being of all equipment parts. He fully informed us of a faulty capacitor and we chose to have the part replaced. We were fully aware that the part was no longer under warranty. Andrew performed all work in a timely manner, even cleaning the outside unit just as he has done before. If you need professional services, we encourage you to receive consultation and estimates and think seriously about a long-term relationship...

These guys are great! They showed up on time in the morning worked all day and gave us suggestions as to how we could arrange vents in the rooms a little bit better. We received a beautiful train air conditioner that operates even better than our last system because of the time these guys spent putting it in. Can’t say enough nice things about them. They were very polite and worked hard and quietly the entire day. The system they put in was a heater/air conditioner. The work they did in our attic, in a very tight fitting space was exceptional. The unit they installed was done with great care and the heat and air-conditioning we are now receiving is really good! So glad my wife and I chose Herringer to install these units! Thought the price was really very reasonable and will look forward to having them install another air conditioner/heater system in the...
