Fruit Acres Apple Orchard — Local services in La Crescent

My wife and I had an amazing experience here last weekend. We pulled in right after they had closed and one of the owners graciously spent about hour telling us about his life, family, apples, and organic farming. It was really fascinating to learn more about the benefits of organic farming and how there is so much product lost to bugs but how much tastier and healthier the apples are when they're grown how nature intended.

We were fortunate enough to come at the peak end of season where the apples were falling off of the trees. They were the best apples I've ever eaten in my life. We picked picked sweet tango and zestar apples. They are hyrid varieties that are developed by the University of Minnesota. Seriously, the zestar was the best apple I've ever eaten.

We had the best experience at Fruit Acres. The scenery is absolutely beautiful with amazing views of the river bluffs. The drive to the orchard is incredibly scenic as well. We went for u-pick apples and didn't realize we had the opening time wrong. They still let us come in to pick and were so kind! Our entire family had so much fun picking! We made lots of delicious apple sauce, juice, cider and have plenty to make some crisp and fresh eating. We live over an hour away and stopped by chance but we plan to go back...
