My partner and I were lucky enough to be invited to play golf here and what an experience!! I could wax lyrical about the lush fairways, the fast greens and deep rough, but enough about my partners nether regions. We got to the gates early, only to find the guard asleep with a copy of "Plumpers" under his arm. Not a good sign. After showing our credentials (library cards written in crayon) we walked the 2 miles to the club house. Inside, it looked as if an IKEA salesman had done battle with a Brampton H section 1970's basement and lost. There were ferns. Lots of ferns. Shiver...Once we paid our green fee, we rented our putters and headed out to the course. The first hole is a tricky par 2, 75 yards over a puddle with a plastic flamingo stuck in the middle. I parred it, but my partner double bogeyed and broke the neck of the flamingo. It turns out it was real, not plastic and the personal pet of one Mr. Jack Nicklaus. We were escorted out with grim looks all around. I did catch a glimpse of the famous 18th hole with its statue of Liberty and Eiffel Tower hazards, but missed seeing the treacherous 15th with the double loop through the clowns mouth. The residents support and pay for 128 combat veteran Marines to come out and play for a day, and live the life of a millionaire at the club. I will never forget this day and will ALWAYS be so grateful for the gentlemen who I golfed with and everyone who made it possible....
