POA fees keep going up and the services in exchange are diminishing. Too many boats on the lake; swimming is dangerous and leaves you with gasoline smell. Too many ridiculous restrictions on land owners; if you own you have to constantly bribe some geriatric official still corrupt in the ways of old just to look at your land or think about dreaming about improving your land (an exaggeration of course but so is calling it "your land" since its basically renting from the POA). I suggest Lago ditch the old timers with new vibrant leadership. I suggest Lago spearhead the outer reaches of Austin with a vision of sustainability. I suggest embracing community garden plots and city composting. Allow natural fencing without permits. Create a permanent community market space at the Dawn St. Parking strip, where local gardeners and crafters can vend with POA fees paying for tent space. I suggest a community themed annual festival embracing local artists, gardeners, and merchants; call it a harvest fest or Lago Days. I suggest working with UT to get more solar panels and sustainable development in Lago. Oh and work towards converting the abandoned golf course into something useful, fun, good for the environment, and lucrative. Golf is an old elitist sport. Millennials don't play golf, we recycle and want clean drinking water and affordable housing and community gardens and useful fun jobs. The community needs to host a years worth of community discussions and public opinion about the future of the...
Read moreThis POA takes great care of their parks. Their annual dues are surprisingly low considering all they offer, including a private gym, pool access, 9 private lakefront parks, a fishing hole, and a camp ground where you can bring tour RV or tent camp for cheap. It’s nice to know that our parks are private. I feel safer there knowing that the parks are maintained by people who care about keeping them nice - and secure. They will stop you if you don’t have a POA parking sticker or guest pass. This was annoying after I got a new car, but it also gives me peace of mind knowing that they truly regulate who uses the parks. Thanks LVPOA for giving my kids clean and safe places to...
Read moreYou would think this would be a horrible place to visit, on par with the typical DMV, but it's exactly the opposite. Very friendly people who are always happy to go out of their way to assist property owners. It feels like they must live here also, and they treat you like friends and neighbors. The Lago Vista POA is nothing at all like your typical bureaucratic HOA. We are lucky to have them...
