Kaylan Kane Design — Local services in Lake Forest

I can't express how disappointed I am that I have to write this review. Kaylan helped us with the interior design of our new construction home (it's the primary house marketed on her website, instagram, Chicago Magazine, etc.). We spent countless hours and thousands of dollars with her, including almost 20K alone on the window treatments/drapes for our house. However, we recently had our 2nd baby (we also hired her after 1st baby was born for nursery) and needed to add blackout fabric to the existing drapes that she designed, selected fabric for, & installed in a spare bedroom. When we contacted her about it she refused to help us unless we paid her a minimum of 5 hours. When we asked why it required 5 hours of design time to simply add a blackout fabric to existing drapes that she already designed, when the majority of the work was being done by a 3rd party seamstress, she was unresponsive to multiple emails. We felt completely taken advantage of as she tried to over-charge us when we've given her a ton of business, Also, after countless projects, I never even received a simple thank you for the business, the only emails I have concluding our previous projects were emails telling us we needed to purchase more hours. Honestly, we would never recommend her to anyone, she was extremely unprofessional, unresponsive, and flat out rude to us as her clients that provided her with so...

I really can’t express how Kaylan totally changed the 3,000 square foot condo we bought! It was a beautiful space but I wasn’t sure at all about how to make it into the space I wanted it to be. Kaylan came in with the best ideas and even my very skeptical husband was totally blown away by all of her ideas as they came to fruition. Kaylan has the best resources for painters, carpenters and upholstery. She has impeccable taste and I couldn’t be happier!!!! Actually thrilled with how our place is turning out and it doesn’t get any better than that. I never in a million years would have been able to achieve what she has without her. She is very conscious of cost and works at keeping the price down. I think she is very capable of working with all budgets on all sorts of projects. We haven’t finished with all the work here yet but it has already been transformed. I used Kaylan at Olive Juice for carpet(fabulous) drapes(drop dead gorgeous) painting and putting up wainscoting(which transformed entryway) and furniture both new and re upholstery! We're first time home-owners and are finally graduating from all of the hand-me-downs that we have received over the years. Kaylan has been an angel for us as we finally make investments into furniture to decorate our real home! She helped us plan and execute a banquette for a dining area (for which we have received countless compliments) and gave us so many fresh ideas that completely fit within our style and budget. I can't wait to continue to work with her through other areas in our house (we already have an awesome plan in place for the powder room).
