This really was quite a large stump, though not even the largest in the park. It was quite interesting to learn that these petrified tree stumps they have here are the result of the climate being conducive to redwoods 30+ million years ago. And then that some 19th century ne'er-do-wells thought it might be fun to hack it in to bits and reassemble it in Chicago during the World's Fair, but they and their saws were thwarted by the rock's toughness.
