I went to Orlando Health Christmas night with me and my boyfriend since we are both sick with the flu. We both couldn’t breathe from previous asthma complications when we were kids , also just symptoms of the flu and when we’d cough we would throw up and it was making it hard for us to get to sleep so I decided to take us to the ER. When we got the the doctors kept on saying “we couldn’t wait till the morning to go to urgent care” which I feel like shouldn’t matter and they wanna help as doctors, another reason we didn’t go to urgent I don’t even why I have to clarify this is bc my boyfriend doesn’t have insurance and we would’ve had to bill upfront and we couldn’t. Beside that point they took me to back first and who ever the guy who was doing check ups when you first get assigned to ur room, he was very dry and rude it felt like, when I was explaining my symptoms it sounded like he didn’t think it was serious or like he didn’t believe me, he was a gentleman looked like in his 30-40s and he has a beared and he looks hispanic. Then once I got into the room the nurse took my vitals and tested for what I have all that stuff before the doctor came in and he was talking to me and idk if they were busy but he proscribed me medicine which I thought was gonna help but the nurse came back in and gave me medicine for vomiting and nausea (Zofran) and like a stronger dose of Ibuprofen, which didn’t really help at all besides making us not vomit, and the reason why i say that is because i ended up having to go to Advent a second time because they didn’t do everything they didn’t test me and give ekg or give my lungs and x ray even though i said i had chest pain and couldn’t breath. After we were given medicine we had to wait I think to see how the medicine reacts to us and to get our paper work which took like 2-3 hrs. My boyfriend asked the same guy who gave me my check up for a blanket because we were freezing just waiting, and the guy said “go back in your room there’s actual emergencies going on, and someone will be with him” mind you my boyfriend didn’t even get to ask he just shooed him away and never checked back in with him so we actually had to ask another doctor a second time. Also when we got our paperwork it said we were fine to return work the next day which I questioned and they said take whatever time necessary as if they didn’t care but we went to Advent and we still tested positive for the flu and advent gave us until Jan 2. Overall I’d say don’t go here I would go to Advent if you have any complications or a bad experience here because they took care of me well and I feel like Orlando health probably lacked because me and my boyfriend are new adults 18/20 and they knew we don’t know what we’re doing or what questions to ask or if they are being rude how to handle those situations, either way I will not be ever returning to this hospital/ER again and if I could do no...
Read moreFirst of all I would like to point out that this review is through the eyes of a Internal Medicine Physician, From the time I registered to the time I left this facility I was treated like family, Every staff member greeted me with a smile. They all told me they loved working at this facility, and I will tell you why, When I check in and paid my copay in full I received a 20% discount on my copay that was over $100 in savings. Then when I was escorted to the surgical areas, the nurses immediately checked me in doing a checklist according to protocol for my procedure. They were thorough and complete, and a shout out goes to Ksenia who started my IV, I did not even feel it as I was distracted answering intake questions, I actually was surprised and had to ask her if she was done, "Of Course" she replied all was good, my procedure was delayed due to an emergency, but this is not unusual for any good cardiac unit and I am sure that patient received top of the line care from my Cardiologist Dr Muhammad Ghumman MD, who trained at NYU in Manhattan NYC. He is not only an top shelf physician, and gentlemen, but his skills with a catheter are top shelf as well. He took care of me with care as if I was his brother and also counseled me about my results with earnest concern. He was in my opinion a Doctor's doctor. I wish to thank him here for his excellent advice and great skill. Now as to the rest of the staff, Like where did they get all these pleasant nurses, were they trained by Disney customer service? No I don't think so but they were amazing and attentive, along with excellent clinical skills and medical knowledge. The Nurse manager who hired these women has an eye for excellence and it shows, the facility also shines with cleanliness, state of the art equipment as no expense was spared in design and equipment to accomplish all aspects of cardiac care. This hospital is the Taj Mahal of hospitals I have been in during my 42 year career, the locals of Lake Mary are so blessed to have this 10 star facility in there back yard, Best regards PT...
Read moreI've been to my fair share of ERs/hospitals over the years, and I always go in with tempered expectations.
At first impression: OHER Lake Mary is aesthetically pleasing and clean, which seems superficial, but it's assuring to be in a place that's well kept. (Compare to OH ORMC ER which feels like a school cafeteria and operates like one, too.)
Every person on staff I interacted with was well-informed and pleasant to speak to: from front desk to the nurses to the doctor on duty, Dr. Sallin. I've been to some ERs where nurses and doctors immediately got flighty because of my feeding tube, either not wanting to touch it or admitting that they had never seen one before, but no one at OHER Lake Mary had a problem examining my stoma and giving me their educated assessment. We were able to rule out infection (my primary concern), but Dr. Sallin didn't stop there; he 100% validated my pain and my concerns and encouraged me to see my treating doctor and surgeon sooner than my scheduled appointment. He also sent me home with extra stoma supplies to tide me over until that appointment. That kind of level of care and direction should be standard in the field, but many patients can tell you that it's just not always there.
I left OHER Lake Mary within about an hour of my arrival feeling confident in the level of care I was given in the moment and confident in the information I was able to later send to my regular providers (who are also in the Orlando Health network). There are other ERs within a 10 mile radius that I've visited before under less-than-pleasant circumstances and has varying results, and there are other OH ERs that I've visited in my times of need. OHER Lake Mary has been the best experience of them all in terms of me feeling understood as a patient, getting down to business and leaving the building with a solid post-visit treatment itinerary---everything a patient could ever need out of an untimely...
