I came here while driving up the Lake Superior shorline about a month ago. I was told that the smoked fish was top notch. So as a regular visitor to St. Ignace, which is a city with many smoked fish options, I wanted to put this place to the test. I was not disappointed.
When I walked into the little building, I knew I would not be dissatisfied. I asked the lady what fish that she recommended. She said, very firmly, that it was all good. So I got the whitefish and ate the whole thing the second I got back to my car.
While I do wish there was a little more flavor from the smoke, the fish was very fresh and meaty. In fact, I'd say that this fish was top tier as far as quality.
One thing that I really liked about this whole process is the way they wrap it up. It is double layered, making it much easier to cover up the fish smell when storing it.
Overall, I would not say that this place tops the place I go in St Ignace, but the quality of the fish definitely makes this place well...
Read moreNot what it used to be. Called late November to order salmon and Kristi/Christy was snarky, rude, and sarcastic when I asked questions while placing my order. They only ship on Mondays so I requested that our order be shipped Dec 16. They were supposed to call with our $ total when charging our card but never did.
Order was on our doorstep almost 2 weeks early on Dec 5 and we were out of town when it was delivered. A relative stopped by to pick something up in the evening and brought it inside, but we didn’t get home til the following day. Fortunately, the fish was still frozen.
We orders 6 lbs. we couldn’t have been more disappointed. Nothing like it used to be. Pungent, bony, and NOTHING like it was a few years ago. Just gross.
Terrible, nasty customer service and $150 for a lot of really bad fish. We will...
Read moreWe ordered a sugar coated trout, keta salmon, and a herring for fish. All three were really great, the fatty salmon tasted delicious and paired so well with the leaner fish. We also bought Jamaican jerk cheese curds which were a little spicy and tasted great with the fish. We also bought some cheese sticks that were pretty regular but good. All in all, this a must go-to place of you're going to be on highway 61 North of Duluth. The staff are friendly and helpful, a mom and pop shop, people making salmon spread in the back to keep up with demand. Workers walking in with fishing gear and bringing in more fish as the goes on. There's also a beer and drink selection with some candy and goods like maple syrup. I'll be coming back here everyone in heading north...
