My mom lives at Mary’s Woods and she loves it. The people currently living there are a great group. They’re educated, active, and welcoming. Everyone seems to have a good time at their many functions. I see a lot of smiles and hear much laughter every time I visit. My mom is so busy I can hardly book a date with her. I think that’s just fantastic! Just look at the photos. The place is awesome!

The food was awful, the caregivers were bullied, the nurses clueless and the clients and their loved ones were ignored. In our past three years there, we had seen three CEO's, three nurse managers and three health services directors be hired and then fired for seemingly endless numbers of reasons. I ask to speak to all of them trying to petition them to do their jobs but without success. I was was always given assurances that things would get better but that all of their promises came to nothing. How is this even possible? And how is it so well hidden from the public? Transparency is not a concept that the various levels of the senior staff value or support. For example, my wife was not moved from assisted living to memory care because she was an escape risk but because "He (meaning me, her husband) was too picky". I was given a "cease and desist" order for simply being critical of the care my wife was receiving as she was dying. Even though we occasionally had a caring and professional caregiver, they were too often fired for being troublesome; meaning they knew their jobs better than their managers. I walked in to my wife's apartment to find her bruised and bleeding from a fall. Where were the caregivers? We fought with the managers constantly, forever hoping that the values of the original nuns that creating Mary's Woods would be honored and maintained. My wife was given the wrong medications. She had a variety of personal items stolen. She was refused vaccinations that were free. She received emergency treatment only after I personally took her out of the facility to receive it at the closest hospital, Meridian Park. But Mary's Woods is a corporation with one overriding purpose: to make money by spending more on feeding the trees than on caring for their memory care clients. If your loved ones are truly loved by you, don't place them in the continuing care facilities of...

For more than 10 years, The Move Makers has had the pleasure of assisting new residents with their moves into the Mary’s Woods community, and helping existing residents with their moves within the community. Our experience has been overwhelmingly positive and we have great respect for the caring management and residents at your lovely community. Here’s what our Move Managers have to say:

~Every collaboration with Mary’s Woods is executed with compassion and respect for each resident.

~Whenever I get a call from a new client that is moving into Mary's Woods I can hear the excitement in their voices from all the help and support they got from the staff at Mary’s Woods. They are very organized!

~What I love best about working with Mary’s Woods is the care and compassion they have for their residents. They really understand each person's unique needs as they move. In addition, the Mary’s Woods staff is accommodating and helps with anything our team needs. Whether helping with move dates or TV hanging, they are there to help!

~The staff is friendly, responsive and supportive of both our needs as move managers and those of the residents. The grounds are beautiful! And the buildings, apartments and villas are clean and spacious.

Thank you Mary’s Woods for helping to make our work so enjoyable!

It's disheartening to witness the recent changes at Mary’s Woods under the new CEO’s direction. What was once a strong, supportive community—valued by both residents and staff—is beginning to feel fragmented and uncertain. Many long-time, dedicated employees who helped make this place feel like home are being let go, and it's having a noticeable impact on morale and the quality of care.

These aren't just names on a payroll—they are the heart of this community. Their commitment, kindness, and hard work have shaped the warm and welcoming culture that residents and families have come to cherish. The loss of so many valued team members raises real concerns about the future of Mary’s Woods and whether the current CEO truly understands or respects what makes this place special.

Change is sometimes necessary, but the current direction feels more like a dismantling than an improvement. I hope those on the board will take a step back, listen to the community, and reconsider the path they are on before more...
