Gimmicks & over-priced!
On Monday, I purchased "Pasta Roni" at published price of $1.25 each. I looked thru the ad, noticed they would be on "weekend sale" for 99Ā¢ each...
There was also a banner on top of ad "$10 off $40 online order". I decided to try that...spent almost an hour trying different options to get the $10 coupon, never got it to apply.
I drove 10+ miles to get to a Winn Dixie - only 2 stores left in area. The manager told me the coupon not working has been an ongoing issue. Told me if I spent $40 that he'd issue a $10 credit.
I looked for the items I tried to buy, problem there....Boston Market meals on weekend sale but OUT OF STOCK (I'd wanted 6 meals BOGO, around $15)...I picked up some ribeye & frozen fish, still needed more to reach $40. I picked up extra boxes of Pasta Roni. At the register, couldn't figure out why what I'd calculated to be around $42 kept ringing up $58....3 cashiers & manager, 2 different registers, finally figured it out...the first 6 Pasta Roni rang up at $1.99 for 2 boxes, after that they were $1.99 EACH.
So, there isn't a store anywhere that could sell Pasta Roni for $1.99 each...average is $1.25 - $1.33...yet Winn Dixie thinks it's fair to charge $1.99 each (after the first 6 boxes).
Raise the price to offer BOGO, I get it, what was $1.25 becomes $1.99 so you can BOGO.
So, I spent nearly an hour at the store trying to pick out $40 of stuff (difficult because the weekend sale started today and already sold out of certain things), then multiple rings at register because the cashier & manager couldn't figure out why subtotal so much more than it should've been, until finally realized it was charging $1.99 per box on the boxes I had added to reach $40.
I ended up walking off with nothing because I was so frustrated by that point.
Coupons that don't work, out of stock on day 1 of weekend sale (Boston Market), inflated prices to offer BOGO....gimmicks and lack of customer care....no wonder Winn Dixie stores are getting harder &...

During my second visit that day to the store at the cashier line, the girl cashier couldn't scan the code on my phone so she proceeds without asking to start changing settings on my phone because she wasn't able to beep the screens barcode. Then Uber has another barcode to scan she wanted to question the next code. The prompts have to be followed so the customer gets what loyalty points that Winn-Dixie and Uber have setup. At no time should your employees operate someone's personal phone without their permission. For some reason during my previous visit the guy cashier was able to scan the code just fine. No questions. I'm a guy with two daughters so I'm not sure if somebody didn't train her like the guy or why my experience was the way it was. But at no time! Should you feel it okay without permission to change settings on someone's personal phone. So as simple as it is I now have a setting on my phone changed, I can't just change it back to where I had it because I don't know where it was at the time. Yes its screen brightness. Yes its picky, but it my damn phone not yours. Sadly I do find females more prone to doing this, lady at Walmart did it too while doing spark, this isn't your companies equipment, I didn't get it free with my phone service. Mine is bought cash factory unlocked because I don't want to be a rat tied to a network. Is it okay if I change the settings of your refrigeration systems? I'm not sure why this is a thing but if you can't use the barcode scanner we need a different way to interact, there should be no touching someone else's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThey sell a lot of expired items so you have to closely inspect EVERYTHING. Lots of expired dairy products on the shelves, moldy bread, produce, and even the frozen foods are expired. I got some frozen pot pies and when I went to cook them I discovered they were expired by over a month and had severe freezer burn. I didn't think to check the expiration date at the store because it takes so long for frozen items to expire. I got some chives, they looked ok through the package at the store but when I opened them at home the next day the chives were limp and there was mold on some of them. I picked up some potato salad from the deli and it was disgusting. It had so much vinegar; I took one bite and had to spit it out. I did get a good deal on some coke and that's why I gave two stars instead on one. The prices are cheaper here than at Publix but it's not a good value overall since the selection is very small and what they do have is likely expired. I've been here twice and no one was particularly friendly, they didn't ask if I found everything I needed, I didn't hear, "Hi, how are you?" or "Thanks, have a good day". They don't have enough lanes open so checkout takes a long time, and they won't offer to help you load your groceries in your car. The lack of southern hospitality or even common etiquette didn't bother me though, it kind of made me homesick for Detroit where most people are a little rude but going to Winn-Dixie did make me...
