First time here after multiple attempts. We've had BBQ all over the country. This was very disappointing. We ordered the Big Pound Sampler. Menu says it's pork, chicken, brisket, and sausage. We also opted to add the ribs for $5. First the ok: the sausage and pulled pork were fine, nothing to write home about but not worth coming back for either. We got 2 ribs for our $5. They were ok but weren't fall off the bone or anything. The bad: My judge of good brisket is if I can eat it without BBQ sauce. This one, even WITH BBQ sauce it was dry as a bone and no flavor. But the biggest disappointment was getting 3 naked wings for the chicken on this platter. At a BBQ joint I expect BBQ chicken, pulled chicken, etc. not naked greasy inedible wings.
We will not be coming back.
To reply to the owner. You didn't check on us until the end of the meal, so how would you have known how we were at the start? And what could you have done to make it better at that point? We came in, in a good mood. I didn't even mention all the little things that continued to persuade us not to return. Like walking in and handed menus and told to seat ourselves and that we had to come back to the counter to order, tip up front before there's any service, not told that the soda is self serve out of sight, having to move chairs to make it past someone else to get to the table, then the waiter forgot our sauce, said he'd be right back with it and never came back, my mom asked for more mayo for her chicken sandwich which she was told you only had ranch so she said that was fine. We had to go track down the waiter for both of those. No one came to ask us about the meal until you stopped by when we were all done. What could you have done other than refund money, which wasn't our concern? To top off our whole experience, we watched your waiter take leftovers from a guest that just left, package them up, and give them to another guest! (guessing a friend since you and him were talking to them a lot). Good on you for staying open, but your guests are what KEEP the doors open. We could've easily made dinner at home but we try to support local businesses, especially when we think it's a slow time for them. We were originally headed to our frequent spot and decided to give you a try instead. I keep my reviews factual and don't focus only on the good or the bad. Clearly you were only scrolling looking for my bad ones or you would've seen the first 2 food ones you come across were both 5 stars. Plus for direct comparison if you look at my review of the BBQ places in cave city, Memphis, and Nashville you'll see very positive reviews because their food deserved it. I am a positive person, I enjoyed the night out with my family despite the disappointment. Maybe as a business owner you should look at a bad review and figure out what you might be able to change. Not serve naked chicken wings on a BBQ platter would be a start. I'm not sure if your brisket was cut in advance and dried out or what, but maybe look at how you can improve instead of brushing off negative reviews as grumpy people. I just read some of your other reviews and I see this is how you handle them. If they have anything negative to say you don't take accountability for it, just say you checked on them and they didn't say anything. That's not an answer! If you can't even take accountability on here, how is telling you in person going to be different? And most people won't complain because there isn't anything you can do to make bad food better. That doesn't mean they...
Read moreOrdered an appetizer, the loaded fries, not enough meat or toppings. Our food came out and wasn't steaming or even hot for that matter. Yes, the cashier did come and check on us, but I'm not one to complain.(only complaining now based on the reveiw comments that were left to my wife.) However, my wife left an honest review and got a replay with excuses. Anyone that has ever worked in restaurants knows that if the food isn't steaming, that is not hot enough, and yes, the meat was good. The sides lacked flavor, and it was all room temp at best. So please, let's not make excuses and just do better, and if you can't take honest reviews. Please don't try and make it seem like it was our fault. Because at the end we ate our food, paid for our food, and even tipped before even getting anything. But I still wouldn't recommend it based on the service and review comments alone. WILL NOT BE BACK FOR THOSE REASONS. Yes, the meat was good. The place has the potential to be better with proper staffing, which is hard to come by. Best luck and I hope you will not take as me trying to beat up on you all. I have worked in restaurants for over 20 years, and the customer service was lacking due to limited staff. Just remember we were customers, and you lost us because of the review comments alone. THANK YOU. Hope things get better, and have...
Read moreI’m hard to please when it comes to food- but Jennifer and her staff hit the mark today in my first time in. The place was cozy, comfortable and I was greeted with a warm friendly smile. Jennifer’s art is for sale and I love the Kentucky shaped pottery pieces she’s got for sale.
Today I ordered togo- two chicken plates with sides and a small pizza.
Let’s start with the pizza- the crust was awesome and fluffy, definitely not frozen dough with the perfect amount of toppings/cheese/sauce. Their pizza blows away ANY garrard co pizza, by far.
I was surprised and initially disappointed to see the chicken was sliced and not shredded- but after I had a bite my disappointment quickly turned into satisfaction! Nice smoked flavor, tender and juicy and the bbq sauce really went nicely with it.
The green beans were EXACTLY how they should be- the Mac and cheese was pretty solid too.
This is a spot I will frequent… oh and they do DOORDASH! Now if only I could get a cab ride home after several beers...
