4/2019 - I did a lot of research prior to attending Jersey College Largo Campus. I looked into going to HCC, Galen, Rasmussen, as well as other Jersey College Campuses. I talked with all the school counselors, toured the schools, and talked with co-workers/friends who had gone to each school and are currently working RN's.
I decided to go with Jersey College Largo Campus, and it was the best decision I've ever made!
The teachers truly want you to succeed, they care about your success, you have so much support, weekly tutoring offered by every instructor, and the staff truly becomes your family. The students are also very supportive of each other. The level of education you receive is advanced, you start working in the hospital with patients by semester one and continue weekly clinical rotations in the hospital until you graduate the program in semester six. The other RN programs offered at different schools didn't start clinical rotations until the last few semesters, didn't offer clinical rotations in a hospital setting, and didn't seem to truly prepare you for your daily job as an RN.
The clinical experience with Jersey College Largo is fantastic! As a student you’re able to have clinical rotations in the ER, med surg floor, OR, specialty units, follow the residents, as well as many other things. I'm so thankful for such an amazing opportunity. The clinical instructors are great, and the hospital staff is so kind and willing to teach.
Also I looked into accreditation and they are fully accredited with ACEN (accreditation commission for education in nursing) Plus I have a coworker and friend who attended Jersey College for her associates in nursing, went on to complete her bachelors in nursing, went for her masters, and is now a Nurse Practitioner. The program sets you up to be an amazing RN but also gives you a solid foundation for your BSN and MSN if you would like to further your career in the future.
It's a very hard program, but if you do everything the teachers say.... you'll make it!! :)
I've been in your situation, and I know how big of a decision this is... so I hope all this information helps you!!
**Update 4/2021: I passed my HESI exit exam and NCLEX on the first try. I’m now enrolled in a fully accredited BSN program and the same goes for all of my original classmates. I didn’t struggle finding a job and was offered positions in ICU, and the OR right out of school. Many of the employers liked that I attended a residency program that was more hands on training vs other schools and I believe that residency experience helped me get these higher level nursing job offers.
My class studied a lot! It took a lot of work! I am so proud of my classmates and thankful for this school! Just remember, no matter how hard the program gets don’t give up because all of the hard work and studying will pay off in the end....

This course or school is not for everyone, the amount of information and time constraints are not easy. The school is very fast paced, and the assignments are detailed and time consuming, which I was thankful for after the fact. I did complain and cuss about the process because it seems like so much, but now that I'm a RN I look back and I'm glad it was hard, it definitely made me a better RN. We all go through the process of, Am I supposed to do this, Do I want to do this, we cry, laugh and have mixed emotions of nursing school, I know myself and my classmates did this together the whole 2 years. That is what nursing school is, BONDING. I made lifetime friendships with the instructors and fellow students because of nursing school. Jersey has strict rules and trust me I was like "really" ugh this is bs, but it set the reality of what future employers are wanting. My school was 6 semesters, and I highly recommend getting organized before starting class, get your books early (if possible), make a dedicated place to study, if you have children, it's hard to study and take care of them (they don't understand why) go to the library, they have quiet rooms to study with no interruptions. My schedule was insane, I worked fulltime 48 hours a week in the ER and 3 days a week at school, so my 3 days at school were very long days and nights, I started early and went to bed late. When you get online assignments get them done early, I took one day and tried to knock them out for the next week or two, they sneak up on you quickly (life happens). Ask for help, the only wrong question, is the one that wasn't asked. Remember not everyone knows the answer (even though you'll have that one person in class that thinks they do, lol) we all start somewhere and may know the answer or were also scared to ask (don't be) get the information the instructors are there to share with you. Need extra help show up for tutoring, I was always at tutoring even if I did not need help that week, I figured I may hear or learn something I may have missed. Sleep is rare in school with life and jobs, I kept a blanket and pillow in a car and ate my lunch quickly and went to take a little nap to recharge, find what works for you to make you successful. Remember- Show up early, if class starts at 8am- late is 7:45, you need time to get in your seat and setup. Prepare for the unexpected- Healthcare is ever changing, so is nursing school. My last thing to say for this is my favorite saying. The 7 P's. Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance Good luck and remember find a school that works for you!...
Read moreHello, I’m Nurse Practitioner Gabriela. I received an email today from Jersey College requesting a Google review, so I wanted to share my experience.
Nursing school was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and Jersey College’s program is undoubtedly designed to prepare students for the NCLEX. One aspect I appreciated was how subjects were integrated—if we were studying respiratory, for example, that same topic was covered across anatomy, med-surg, and pharmacology, which made it much easier to grasp the material.
I was an exceptional student and don’t recall ever receiving a B or C, despite the difficulty of the program. However, because of my academic excellence and the fact that I come from a foreign country, I was unfairly singled out by the Dean on multiple occasions. I was frequently accused of cheating on my exams, despite having no history of misconduct.
Beyond my personal experience, I also witnessed inconsistencies in how students were treated. The rules were not applied equally—while the policy stated that students could not repeat more than one nursing class, I knew of a student who had repeated every single class and was never removed from the program. The program at Jersey College is designed to be completed in two years, yet this particular student took six years to finish. He was given special privileges and a full scholarship, seemingly because his mother facilitated clinical sites for Jersey College in Largo.
Despite these challenges, I persevered and went on to advance my career. I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in nursing and expect to graduate in April 2026. While the program at Jersey College provided a solid academic foundation, I hope the administration works toward creating a more fair and supportive environment for all students.
