Don't believe the positive reviews until you've read this:
Here's my honest review, and one star is being generous. To say that my nearly yearlong experience, at the Laurel location specifically, was abysmal would be an understatement. For those contemplating a membership, I'd urge you to read my review in full before making a decision.
Cramped and Overcrowded: The gym boasts a massive clientele of nearly 1000 bi-monthly paying members, yet the facility itself is laughably undersized. With such a limited variety of equipment, you'll be waiting, or being waited on, and often. At 5 pm every week day it's like squeezing the population of a small village into a shoebox. Guaranteed to be 20-30 people in that tiny gym floor you walk into upon entry, and we live in a world of short patience. It's a recipe for what I delve in to next.
Safety Concerns & Harassment: On multiple occasions, I've faced the range of mean to outright physically violent harassment from other members, spanning both sexes and all age groups, for merely taking a few minutes between sets to cool down. If you're seeking a peaceful, stress-free environment to exercise, this place should be at the very bottom of your list. It's deeply concerning that this behavior had become a roughy monthly ordeal, even though I specifically made a point to attend during off-peak hours and keep to myself. There's no way to get away from it, eventually you will be harassed, expect it.
Disingenuous Team Members: Their "Team" could win an Oscar for their pitch-perfect act during your initial membership discussions. The charm, the friendliness, the warm welcome – it all seems too good to be true, because it is. Once you're locked into their year-long, overpriced $1000 contract, the facade drops. The various contract clauses designed to protect members from harassment are ignored with a nonchalant shrug, and any complaints are met with the age-old excuse: "We're just following orders from regional management." They don't care if members start fights, and here's why...
Questionable Business Model: Anytime Fitness doesn’t actually want its members to use the gym. After all, equipment that isn't being used doesn't wear out. Yet whether you exercise there daily or never set foot inside, your bank account will still take the same hit. And, guess what, if you're unhappy, you have to pay $250 to cancel your contract before the one-year point. It's win-win for Anytime Fitness.
Unsanitary Facilities: The restroom area deserves a special mention. No matter when I've visited, even right after it's supposedly been cleaned, the air in the back always reeks of mold. Next, after seeing an old blood stain directly between my feet after stepping out of the tanning bed (wonder what part of the body that came out of) I stopped tanning, but still had to pay for it. Last, check the lower-level water fountain drain, it's nasty, and the filter light has been on for months as of the time of posting. It's all unacceptable for any establishment, let alone a health-focused one.
To sum it up, if you value your peace of mind, personal safety, and a gym's hygiene standards, steer clear of Anytime Fitness in Laurel. There are countless other gyms out there that are cleaner and also respect and value their members. This one, evidently, is...
Read moreGreat place! Staff is honest and friendly. Holli greets you with a smile and a hello every time you enter the door. She also personally comes up to you and asks how your experience is and if their is anything she can do to make the environment better. Very personable! Andrew is more than willing to work with you in attaining your fitness goals and always makes a point to say hi whenever he sees you. Anthony is friendly and accepts feedback to personalize group training sessions to fit everyone’s personal goals.
Compared to past gyms I’ve been to, this one is the best! I’ve never encountered a staff that was so friendly, always greeted you with a smile, and works wonderful together as a team. I hope Holli, Andrew, and Anthony stay with this gym as long as possible. They make the experience better! To be honest I would probably end up going to another gym if one of three left the establishment.
My only complaint is the need for an expansion. But I know that is a corporate thing and not...
Read moreAnytime fitness in Laurel MT. is a nice small town gym without the hassle and hustle of corporate gyms. Holli and her team work very hard to accomplish tasks while having a smile and great attitude, from keeping the facility and equipment clean to providing recipes, jokes of the day, updates for classes and what goings-on around the gym. the team also works hard to provide camaraderie of a judgement free team zone of gym participants. From the beginner to the most advanced I believe Holli and her team can make you feel at home, and accomplish your physical...
