For a mediocre degree at a dirt cheap price this is the college for you. As a recent graduate I got a decent education here, and the faculty were awesome. The campus is updated and modern, and the buildings are clean and well kept. The small class sizes are very nice, because you really get to know your professors. However, what this college lacks is a close sense of community, which I am positive is because it's 90% commuter. People drive to class, sit for 75 minutes, then go home. You can't meet anybody. Additionally, because of its low tuition and central location to Gwinnett county, this college has become the place where parents send their kids who don't really care about furthering their education at a university, because they can still get a degree here (although it be not a highly reputable one I'd say.) I honestly feel like the reason I excelled in all my classes is because half my classmates simply did not care and set the bar so low. It made group projects such a pain in the a$$. The administration and even some of the faculty will pitch GGC as a "rival" institution to UNG, UGA, GSU, KSU...I don't know how they came to that conclusion, but do not be fooled. This college is nothing like those bigger universities, and I almost wish I had gone to UNG because their film program is bigger and I would have gotten more of that community experience I COMPLETELY missed out on from going to GGC. Granted, I do think I got a pretty good education. The film professors are passionate about what they teach, and I definitely learned a lot (even though their film program is still pretty new, it needs to step up its game in terms of teaching on-set production. Keep that in mind if you decide to major in CMAP). Again, though, I do not think a degree from GGC means as much as a similar degree from another metro ATL college, which I think is also the reason a lot of students will take their core classes here and then transfer. Which is probably what I should have done. But go to GGC if you want to hear about what a "top class" institution this is for four years while you're parking on gravel, and then be kicked out the door with a diploma that literally looks like someone typed it up on Canva in 30 minutes. Welcome to Georgia...
Read moreI hated the campus and found that most aspects were ran inefficiently. I attended GGC for one semester in the summer and absolutely hated my experience. I understand that the campus is new and still growing however many of the policies made no sense.
I was classified as a transient student who commuted, yet I was still forced to purchase a meal plan even though I literally lived less than 10 minutes away from campus. What's worse is that the "meal plan" placed over $100 on my ID which only worked at 4 dining locations which all closed early (~3pm) and the dining hall had awful hours that weren't convenient at all. Needless to say, I couldn't use all of my money in time and had two options: GGC just took my money Fill out a document to have it transfer as credit on my student account. Which is basically the same as 1 since I am a transient student and will never take classes at GGC ever again
The employees at the admissions were unhelpful and very rude. When over 10 people are in line with the same question (who were all transient students) you cannot claim you sent an email and give us an attitude because I am pretty sure it's impossible that all of us magically lost this fictional email. I even checked the stupid GGC email they provide you with, and it was not there.
The parking situation was outrageous as most of the parking available to students were gravel. And to find a decent parking spot not on gravel you would either have to circle the parking lot for over 15 minutes or park in the single parking garage they offered which was nowhere near any building with classes.
For this summer semester I took 4 credits as GGC totaling over $1000, and at the same time I also took 4 credits at my home institution which cost me a little over $600. Needless to say, I will never take classes here (if any more would transfer) and I would never recommend this college to anyone. To high school students who are researching colleges, trust me when I say it is worth the effort to study a little bit harder to get into any...
Read moreHonestly I hate this school. I usually don't write reviews but I undeniably hate this school and I CAN NOT WAIT TO TRANSFER. They are careless with your money and NEVER let you know about a deadline. They will HIDE the deadline and when it comes up "Oh well". Also the classes are a nice size but after visiting MANY other college I realized the class sizes are the same at the bigger and better colleges in Georgia just like this one. This is a commuters college for sure, The campus is always DEAD during the weekend. The events would be decent if people actually showed up but not many do. Even if people did show up most of the events are really lame anyway and they target only one type of crowd rather than targeting everyone. They make it seem like it's a diverse campus and it is... until the commuters go home. Only 3% of the people who attend the school live in the dorms and the security in the dorms are BY FAR worst part. You have to swipe your card EVERY TIME you come in the dorm. Does not matter if the guard knows your name or your carrying many things about to drop them nothing matters. I have witnessed them CHASING kids in the elevator who try to just go to their room b/c they have many things in their hands and the guards know their name know they live here but do not care. And let me not forget about the guard who sits at the back entry way. On the weekends they cook you the same nasty food they cook everyday but with left overs on the weekend. The dinning hall sucks and everything is over priced. They have kids answering the phone when you need help for whatever and you call the school. It is very rare that you will talk to someone who actually knows 90% of what they are doing. Honestly I can go on and on about this campus but IT IS THE WORST AND I WILL NEVER GO BACK. Save your time, Money and expectations because this school may...
