Places like this are great - if you don't care about pricing. They prey on impulsivity. In many cases, the pieces and sets are marked up several times bricklink value. I encourage you to research this for yourself. As an example, at the time of this post I picked an item at random, the French bulldog figure (29602pb01) on Bricklink. There are multiple available on Bricklink for less than $1.25 each in the U.S. - Music City Bricks has it listed at $10.02 - that's a 900% markup. This is not the exception, this is the norm.
The owner will usually comment something about how this is the cost of owning a physical store - I'm sure that's true. However, it does not make sense to the average collector to pay 9 times the value of something to support someone else's store.
At the end of the day, Lego is already expensive. Bricklink is full of hobbyists and fans that are usually selling to help support their own collection.
It's up to you to decide: Do you want to severely overpay to help Music City Bricks fund an even larger store of overpriced Lego, or do you wish to help a hobbyist and get your item at a reasonable price?
In closing, if you do visit Music City Bricks, I encourage you to check Bricklink pricing before you check out. It could save you hundreds of dollars...
Read moreI’m from a small town on the other side of Cookeville, TN and I got a wild hair to drive my son there on a random Tuesday, an hour and 45 minute drive to be exact, and I didn’t think to check before we left if they were open and upon arrival to the CLOSED store, my 5 year old began to cry in the parking lot. I decided to call the business phone number on the off chance someone was there and to my surprise, they were inside stocking that day so they let us in after hearing my sob story and we got the whole store to ourselves for a couple hours! All that to say it was totally my fault for not checking before driving all that way but this amazing family-owned business made it right and it was an experience with my son I won’t soon forget! In my opinion, it’s far better than the Opry Mills Lego Store because the selection is new AND sealed retired sets plus you can buy mini figs on their own or make your own! Just like the Lego Store but on a budget! I’ll be going here instead from...
Read moreStopped in yesterday after passing this place daily.. I was excited when I first walked in seeing all the legos I could pick through but that changed quickly.. Prices for this store are all over the radar and are way off to national average. Looking for mini figures was like going to a salvage yard (like they piece out the figures). You have one figure let’s say 30bucks, then you have to buy the accessories that originally came with it another 5-10 and the list goes on. Every mini I looked at with the intention of purchasing was over priced by 10-20 bucks. I really want to support local, but with many sellers on eBay beating them by large sums of money the logical answer is to continue purchasing from eBay… Maybe it’s the store for you if you like spending money, but compare prices before you do so and you’ll see a...
