Quite a terribe experience. Stopped at this farm on the way to get some fresh vegetables as i like supporting local and small businesses. After picking up some pears, corn, apples and putting in the trolley, the small tomatoes attracted my attention. Went to check them out. While not all small basket of tomatoes looked fresh, i tried to narrow down on the best pint basket out there. The owner came back rushing and asked me not to touch saying that he doesnt want others to fall sick. ( this was a weird logic). I understand his intention to sell all the left over tomatoes and he wanted only a visual inspection before purchase. Then i showed the other produce i picked up and asked him, if he has any idea on how i could possibly pick them without touching and apologised that i didnt learn any magic! He responded that he doesnt like any attitude from me. At this point i retorded that this is the exact and only thing i see in him. He immediately told me and my family that its a private property and we shd leave. I cud see only 3 possibilities that a business owner could behave so. Either he is semi drunk or mentally not stable or a racist and doesnt like people of color to do business with him ( have a strong reason to belive the 3rd one). Do yourself a favor by avoiding this farm as you cud be harmed. Met another customer in the parking lot who was frustrated aswell with the owners behavior who said had walked out and shared his bitter experience with me. God save this business and induce some sense and customer centricity in to the owners head! Well i am a small business owner and i surely know a thing or two about customer service and shocked at...
Read moreI have to take the time out to write a review for Brossman's. I needed sweet white corn in mid October for a crabfeast. A tough ask, but I saw corn signs along 15 the weekend before. My first stop was farmer John's. They were charging $1/ear for bicolor mealy wormy dried out corn. I bought a few other items, but felt they were overpriced for virtually everything. I called my husband about the corn problem and he said he'd stop at Giant. I told him to hold off until I check out the next place up the road -- Brossman's. They had sweet white corn in almost mint condition for $.75 an ear. Yay. Having already bought other needed produce I approached the checkout to find beautiful homemade baked goods in small quantities and full pans. Blondies, chocolate peanut butter, lemon bars, etc. I picked up a pan of lemon squares for about $7. Woohoo! It was the best corn we've had in a long time and the lemon squares were awesome. We travel to and fro over the river several times a month to enjoy the C&O and we will never miss another chance to stop by Brossman's for whatever they have to offer. Thank you Brossman family for being such a great business and resource...
Read moreI have driven by this Farm Market many times, and I finally made a trip out that way to check it out. The older gentleman working there was so nice and friendly. I had a nice conversation with him, and after learning that I travel with my 2 little pups, he gave me ideas on where I can take them in the area. I walked around this market and they have a nice selection of fruits, vegetables, homemade baked goods and items in jars. I bought 2 candy apples which are real small but looked delicious and pretty. They we're $3 each, a little pricey for such a small apple, but I'm a huge supporter of small and family owned businesses. I picked up a small, tiny loaf of banana bread, and it is delicious!! I love the slightly crunchy crust that reminds me of maybe baked brown sugar? The cantalope smells so good. I love that the baked goods (cookies, candied apples, pies, bread, sweet bread, etc...) and jars of goodies (pickled veggies, fruit, jelly, etc...) were all made by the farm. I will definitely go back again. I wish it is closer to home. I would shop here more often. Oh, they also have an ice cream shop. I will try...
